Does the Backline depend more on the Front line?

Does the Backline depend more on the Frontline? Or does the Frontline depend more on the Backline?

They obviously both depend on each other but who relies on the competence of the other more? Another way to put this is... would you rather be on a team with a good Backline but an average Frontline or a team with an average Backline but a good Frontline?

After playing tons and tons of Backline champs I personally lean towards the Frontline being more decisive. Every time I play a backline champ (even ones I have tons of experience with) like Viktor and Ashe I notice that I basically can't accomplish anything (besides superficially topping damage charts) if the Frontline is awful.

On the other hand, its much easier to pick up a Renekton or a Darius, create enough presence for an otherwise bad Backline to be able to fire the damage effectively.

They are supposed to depend equally on each other. Though I'm going to say backline relies on frontline more.

Because without much of a frontline, people die too quickly.

typically in a front to back setup the front determines when to engage. And while the backline should deal more damage and get more kills the frontline can lock down the assassins/divers from touching the back line so ima go with the frontline.

What I hate as a frontline is the backline isnt moving with me aka they are in still in the middle of the lane. I'm trying to manuever to a better position to engage and since you are too far back I cant go back and peel a diver or get backup when I do engage. As backline I hate it when my frontline is BEHIND ME...

With that said, its a team game. Everyone helps.

Some more than others...

Seems like even when you get fed as the Backline... you later can't do ANYTHING if it turns out your Frontline has really poor formation/game sense. You'll still top the damage charts but you don't have enough firepower/position flexibility to actually win more often than not.

If you get fed as Frontline however, you can do a super strong split (if your backline is bad) or team fight. Literally all you do is dive the Backline whenever you are not outnumbered and when you know you can survive the counterattack while your team attacks. Even a brain dead Lux can suddenly become somewhat effective if you provide that kind of engage.

Just doesn't work the other way as well.

I've also noticed that when the Frontline is good, you soak up a lot more damage, allowing won team fights to more easily translate to taking down towers and objective.

On the other hand, if only the Backline is good... you often get these scenarios where you "won" the team fight but don't have enough people and health to really press on. And it just repeats until the poor Frontline costs you the game.

Depends what your backline is, if you have enough range/peel/damage to effectively delete anything that tries to pick you off, then you'll be fine with a bad front line.

Let's put it this way: Games withput proper backline are manageable - games without proper frontline are always clowfiestas you either snowball hard or loose hard! ^^

So yeah - a normal Backline depends more on a good frontline than the other way around.
