"one shot champions" are rather unfun to play against

AgeOfTheMage··7 votes·14,405 views

By one shot i mean champs that need to do one thing for almost 100% chance at your demise, such as: Blitzcrank or Ahri there are more champs like these, and my opinion are unfun to play against, they require one ability to destroy you, ahri lands her charm, and unless you're a tank you're a dead, same goes for lux, blitz, and many others. "just buy qss or zhonyas" but think about it, whats the cd on those items? now whats the cd on their abilities? "oh just dodge" sure, dodge something coming from fog of where, where guess what? you can't ward because you simply can't ward the whole map!

your thoughts?

edit: i thought I was getting upvoted the whole time.... I need to turn my brightness up D:

edit 2: I'm not specifying only blitz, blitz is actually in a pretty healthy state, i'm talking about champs like Lux Land ur q, use your other abilities, get a kill, repeat, cause lux can still be safe without her q, but blitz cant, same for ahri, etc.

lol and with blitzcrank Q, no one has a 100% skill shot dodge rate.

exactly! people say to dodge, when they should know, you're bound to get hit at SOME point!

If you think about it, most, if not all champions can one shot you if you're squishy and they're fed enough. Ahri Charm and dead Akali Where did she go? Where did you go? Old post lol, but what I mean is champs like ahri or lux, where if you get hit by one ability(lux's q ahri's E) theres almost no escape unless you have qss or cleanse(zhonyas for lux) and yeah, I get building resistances helps not being oneshot but I don't mean getting deleted, if you get hooked by blitz you're dead. I feel like champs shouldn't have to rely one main ability just to be able to do some damage.

singiel381 votes

item 3363 is ward which makes you won't get suprised by walking to bush.

AgeOfTheMage3 votes

and whats the cd for that?

singiel381 votes

Long but it can be sometimes useful

Handy Sandy 1 votes

They rely on hitting those abilities, otherwise they're useless. What's blitz gonna do?

AgeOfTheMage1 votes

exactly! a champ shouldn't have to rely on just one ability!

Handy Sandy 3 votes

Yes they should, it gives room for counterplay.

AgeOfTheMage1 votes

so, when playing a champ, you'd like your main form of counterplay against you, for them to just move to the side?

Handy Sandy 2 votes

It allows you to punish people that don't respect that certain ability, and allows you to be punished whenever you don't respect your own cooldowns. So yes.

AgeOfTheMage2 votes

i guess, they're still kind of unfun to play against(in my personal opinion)

Paydirt732 votes

Ok he isn't talking about having counterplay, he is talking about champs like blitz that feel useless in a fight if they can't pull off one key ability. Which gives both the player, and the opposing team have an anormous amount of pressure.

Like, it's ok to have a strong ability that needs to be watched out for, but it can't be your entire kit in that one ability.

A good example of this kind of champion is old Zac. before the rework, if Zac didn't properly land his E, then the player was left stuck in the middle of the opposing team with not a whole left to do except hope they burn some abilities on you. With the rework, the E is still a strong ability, but if it is messed up, he has other tools to help perform his role as a disrupter.

Blitz is the same way, if you miss the pull, chances are that the last real thing you can do in a fight is try to run up with your speed boost and ult before you are killed. But that's IF you didn't already use the speed to try to land the pull.

So a champion shouldn't be completely restricted to just one ability to make the rest of his kit have meaning. The other abilities should have synergies, but also have their own benefits as a solo ability

The countet play to these skillshots are not qss nor zhonyas, it's teamwork.

Like if you block blitz hook as amumu, you get a free initiation. Or if you tank the Ahri charm as maokai, she aint gonna do shit to u.

AgeOfTheMage1 votes

true, but what about laning.. SOLO laning, and you aren't a tank?

Aptest1 votes

well. let's say he missed. you go on him, and you mess him up. now he missed again, you go on him, and you mess him up. now he can't hook anymore. because lets say he hits one, you tank the damage then go on him and mess him up and he dies.

So Riven can 100-0 a squishy in melee range with literally her entire kit plus 2 AAs? Wow how busted. I can do that with just my Q Titanic Hydra on Shyvana, or better yet with just 3 AAs on Twitch. Or still better I can play Vi and do it targeted while being Tankier.

Think about champions that don't even need to land skillshots to 100-0 you. Riven at 6 RQQE > W > Auto > Q > Auto > R and you're dead. Syndra The most famous one LeeSin If he R first he can't miss his Q unless he's a monkey. Khazix Lul Rengar Lul x2 Ryze Q > W > Q > E > Q undodgeable combo (except the first Q) that 100-0 most squishies at 1-2 items Annie Flash tibbers

And many more. Be thankful that they at least have to land a skillshot to kill you, cause there's worse.

You put kha zix and rengar in the wrong order. Rengar is lul and kha is lul x2. But I agree with everything else

The thing that bothers me about Blitzcrank is that his grab is pretty easy to hit. I don't understand why Thresh would have a delay to his hook when Blitz's grab is much more devastating. The worst part is, in a lot of cases the first time he hooks you you'll probably burn a summoner or two to get away. The second time you end up dying. So to the people who tell you to just dodge need to realize he could hit 2/10 hooks and that still means the other team gets a kill. If he misses he just backs off til it's up again.

Thresh grab for 1 has a bullshit hitbox and 2 is probably better than blitz grab. It has a longer stun duration and allows thresh to fly into the enemy team to lock them all down. Also it much more forgiving if you hook something like a Alistar. The team's tank suddenly isent in the middle of your team

JoeMG2 votes

Strategically, Thresh is definitely better all around. And yes I remember playing Darius ADC into a Blitz and was begging him to grab me. Free gap closer :)

This is league of snowball, dunno why your trying to deny one shot champs, obviously we need every champ to be able to one shot so games only last 8 minutes, jeez

People seem to forget Talon when they make these 100-0 lists. I can literally 100-0 most everyone at level 2 with W + Ranged Q, AA, then ignite. Easiest first blood ever.

Talon W damage is bullshit, it's 150 at rank 1, base.

They should really move it to his Q. That does 0 damage right now.

Or yunno, lengthen the delay. So it's actually dodgable without burning a directional dash.

JVP151 votes

Actually, it is only 110 at level 1. Level 2 is 150, which is still pretty powerful, but it isn't as bad. Also, Talon doesn't need any more delay on his W. A .75 second time is enough because in a teamfight. Much more time than that, and he gets even weaker in teamfights than he already is. Talon falls off super hard late game. Harder than most anyone else I have ever seen. He doesn't have a stun like other early game powerhouses (Pantheon Renekton ) and he doesn't have the overall utility and pressure that even a late game LeeSin does. In a teamfight, he needs to be pretty far ahead to get his kills, although he can do it pretty easily in 1v1 scenarios vs a squishy ADC.

It's 60+90 lvl 1, isn't it?

The delay is nothing in lane, and it puts an emphasis on combos.

JVP151 votes

No, it is actually 50+60 at level 1. 60+90 is at level 2 (at least according to the Talon page on the Wiki). The delay isn't much in lane, true. However late game, the delay can be somewhat devastating, especially compared to his old W.

Then have it scale with levels or ranks, or perhaps have it pop instantly when he Q's or ults. Not exactly fair for something which does more damage than a Panth spear, and with this ability Talon is a heavy, heavy poke lane. Old W at least didn't do nearly as much damage, and was also smaller, if I recall correctly,

JVP151 votes

I thought that the old W had a wider radius, but it didn't go out quite as far. You are also right that it did less damage.

I must say, your suggestion to pop instantly when he Q's is actually a pretty interesting idea and I have been playing around with it in my head. It would potentially reduce his poke while not actually affecting his all in. I like where that suggestion is going, but on the other hand, I don't want to agree with you because it will make his laning harder for less skilled people (kind of like myself) while hardly changing it for higher level players (many of whom who have a ridiculous winrate with Talon). I'm not really sure where to take the discussion from here.

Everybody is a one-shot champion with this damage creep

Hyperiön1 votes

Unless you have point and click damage, Syndra, veig for example, Both of the champions you mentioned rely on landing the "CC".

Both of which have narrow hitboxes, and Ahri's E has a slow travel time. The only time Ahri should land an E on you is if she is flanking, or you have some sort of other cc on you, like Exhaust, or whatever floats your boat.
