Riot explicitly stated if queue times were longer, they would disable flex.

Yet they permanently enabled Auto-fill.

To be fair i can totally understand people wanting premades hell even at times i'd love to queue 3-5 man but this Auto-fill is horrible. In ranked you are supposed to be playing your MAIN role.. It's ranked you dont play roles you dont excel at.

I just dont understand because Auto-fill for ranked isnt testing how good i am, it's only testing my patience.

Just turn off Auto-fill for normals because thats honestly horrible to deal with.

There WAS a point were you would be bottom end of the pick order, and that meant being support. I think auto-fill is a small price to pay for shorter times, but that's me. I would argue that auto-fill absolutely tests skill; anyone can be a one trick, play one role and excel at it, but even good players can be competent at other roles enough to have influence.

My argument here is based on the idea that auto-fill only occurs sparsely if you've filled a role recently. It's not consistently taking you away from your main role, just directing it else where for the odd game out. I like to reiterate that it is a small price to pay compared to the days of yore, when, more times than not, you were forced into the least picked role, seldom getting chance to practice the popular roles.

It's always been an existent problem with this game, and so far this seems to be the most viable method at the moment.

I agree with this so much. There's five meta roles in this game and over 100 champions. Being skilled at one champ or role is one thing, but truly skilled players can play more than one role with competence and if you're not confident in your ability to play all roles to at least some proficiency I don't think you should play ranked.

I dislike having an autofilled support when it was my secondary role

Yeah the system is pretty broke. Heard of a guy who picked support primary and someone got autofilled into it.

Flex Queue is just bad in general due to poor matchmaking. It doesn't matter whether you can play your role or not if matchmaking does not pair up similarly skilled players. Auto-fill only serves to make matchmaking even worse because players are already playing with a distorted MMR since they are often playing their best roles and auto-fill forces them to makes them play one of their worst roles. I'd rather deal with long queue times over terrible matchmaking.

This was my Flex Queue game today. There's no way any of these premade groups belong in the same game together. https://s28.postimg.org/7r89cagf1/lolflexqueue.png

before season 5 you had to fight for your role and if you were last pick you were pretty much support or jungle. you had to know all roles.

I HATE autofil tho. its actually made my queues longer since theres like 10 dodges in a row before i get into a match, and unless i have autofill protection i'll get support eventually and thats the game that goes through.

Auto fill was implemented because there weren't enough support and that increased queque times. Disabling flex will not increase the support population of solo q.
