Nidalee Azir Lux etc It's stupid. All you can do is hope your champion counters them or hope that they are bad.
Xerath is a good example of a well-designed hyper-range champion.
Please keep this in mind when designing champions.

Can I hear lux's reasoning because right now if you think her q e are reliable defence mechanisms than you are wrong her q is a slow moving skill shot which is easy to dodge when chasing she is immobile and her e is not the best slow.
The only things that tickles me about 
is her goddammit new E, that insta popping is annoying specially on the lane phase...

Is it because of her W shield? Because she's still squishy with it.
It can't be because of her Q and E, because you also mentioned Xerath, who has a similarly powerful E and W respectively.
I'll agree that Azir was absolutely crazy (at the moment, they're Olafing him), and Nidalee's a bit silly, even though her kit is counter-playable. But you can't say Lux is bad and Xerath is good when the biggest defensive difference is that Lux has a shield.
While I agree, I think adcs are a bigger problem.

xerath is a good example? he has a hard crowd control, a soft crowd control and enough range to never get ganked XD build him with move speed such as luden's echo for solid ap and damage and unless he's caught out, it's hard to catch him
lux does have great crowd control, but she's also fairly immobile and her moves are telegraphed
the thing with mages is that you have to beat their damage in a burst or large amounts of consistent damage
some of the mid ADCs can probably accomplish this, like corki, or then there's veigar
but those would be counters. I want all champions to be equally competent, but riot's focused on minority champs XD
