They have to give the Inspiration tree some strong options, considering its the "weird tree" that not a lot of champions want to go down anyways, especially as their primary. Take Glacial Augment for example. No champion who would want something like that is going to go down inspiration as their primary tree. Most champions go down it as their secondary, and if you took away boots, a lot of champions would be forced into stopwatch and the 5% cdr thing with not really any other options.

Let's compare it to Coup De Grace (because I made this comparison recently, so I can just copy the results here :-p ) (9% amplified damage if the target has less than 40% hp)

A Lux usual combo is Q -> E -> Ult -> Passive (procced by ult), for a total of 540-1180 + 2,25*AP (at levels 6 and 18, not considering other runes or abyssals from allies). At 0 AP it totals 540-1180 At 300 AP it totals 1215-1855 At 700 AP it totals 2115-2755

Increased by 9%, they become: 588-1286 at 0 AP 1324-2022 at 300 AP 2305-3003 at 700 AP

To reach the same damage through bonus AP, she'd need: 21-47 bonus AP at 0 AP 48-74 bonus AP at 300 AP 84-110 bonus AP at 700 AP

So, that rune on Lux has an approximate gold value of (1 AP = 21,75 gold, according to the wiki) 457-1022 gold at 0 AP 1044-1610 gold at 300 AP 1827-2392 gold at 700 AP

In comparison, the free gold from each of those Inspiration runes doesn't seem like much...

Never said it was up 100% of the time; but even assuming it is up 40% of the time (which will be true in every kill you get; actually it's more often than that, because sometimes your target is not at 100% hp when the fight starts), it's still a lot of gold. More precisely, when accounting for its uptime its value is: 183-409 gold at 0 AP 418-644 gold at 300 AP 731-957 gold at 700 AP

No. It's to compensate for the upgrade cost when building into GA/Hourglass. Normal stopwatch costs and contributes 600 gold. Rune stopwatch is free but contributes only 300 gold.

300 gold value on stop watch assuming you gonna upgrade it to a full item, but the item its self yes is 600 but again you only saving 300 gold if upgrading it to a full item.

I used to take magical footwear all the time, but then realized if I wanted completed boots early for like magic resistance or the orange movement out of combat boots I was literally shit out of luck until 10 minutes in.
