Does udyr actually need a rework?

I'm not actually sure, I've heard it said that he desperately need one but he's not likely to get one, however on the other side of the fence I've also heard it said that he's in a decent spot and there's no need to change him aside from minor balance tweaks.

I don't play him much, but I think he has a distinctly unique kit and with so much talk about reworks and riot saying how eventually a lot of different champions who are in a good spot now might get reworked as time goes by, I was hoping to get some other opinions on that. Could he be reworked in a similar fashion to ryze or taric where everything people liked about his old kit was kept in place, or would any changes like that be unwelcome like with 's rework.

*edit: Oh and if he were to receive a rework, how could it be done while preserving what people like about him?

Udyr is literally trapped between being completely worthless or stupidly oppressive. There are very few moments in which he isn't either and then even the slightest of changes to ANYTHING is just threatening to push him into either side really fast. Whether he needs a rework or not i could care less since i don't play him but minor tweaks are just going to make him be stuck in that loop of being stupidly good or absolute garbage forever

Give udyr a gap closer on bear stance, remove AS buff from his passive. There, much more fun Udyr.

Edit: instead of monky stance, decrease his base MS and give him a passive like deadmans plate. Thematically appropriate and tactical.

problem with udyr is that all his abilities is you simply auto attacking meaning if he's too strong you feel like he lacks counterplay since you can't dodge auto attacks(unless shen/jax) but if he's too weak you feel like your abilities aren't impact full enough since again, all you do is auto attack.

My personal experience with Udyr, is that he is fairly good at start/laning, pushes towers quickly, while being completely useless in large team fights mid to end game.

But I'm unranked, and not very good in team fights regardless.

They're gonna rework him probably because the champ design is stupid, not for balance. Like most of the OG champs they've reworked or are going to, his design is too simple and outdated. It's literally just press a button and you get a better auto attack. Compare that to other champs like Ekko.
