Intentions for Kog'Maw

Does anyone who played old Kog regularly feel like he scales up to have similar levels of dps as he had before?

I used to play Kog fairly regularly and melt tanks by mid game.

How many items do you need now to get to a point where you're a serious threat in a team fight?

Used to be the pros said all you needed was your Trinity Force and then you wanted to start team fighting.

So to be clear, new Kog vs old.

-No ability to poke and do significant damage to healthy enemies while seiging towers either with the ult or with the old snipemaw TF proc (because you no-longer build TF.)

-No longer has the ability to orb walk and kite away from enemies while W is active if you want to achieve acceptable damage

-2 or so additional items required to ramp up for team fights than before.

-no extra damagescaling to compensate for these new disadvantages at any stage of the game.

Juggermaw and protect the Kog'Maw was already a very, very risky team comp with polorized results and lower than average success rates even at the LCS level.

So why does everyone expect him to be over-powered or really strong in organized play NOW?

Someone recently posted asking about the future of Kog'Ma. A rioter responded that they are looking into him soon. I suggest you try to find that thread.

The most I've been able to get out of Riotrepertoir is that there's an internal division in Riot's balance team over what to do with Kog. Some people are terrified that Kog might supplant the golden-boy ADCs as a priority pick/ban at the LCS level if he's decent, which is apparently the worst possible thing because reasons. So they're leaving him intentionally gimped until they're sure he's just as underwhelming in competitive play as he is in Solo.

Yes, it's really hypocritical. Riotrepertoir apparently thinks that Kog should be balanced around Solo like every other ADC in the game, so we can only hope that he'll manage to talk some sense into Live Balance.

While old kog did have stuff that made him better. I like new kog more because he has his w that gives him 5.0 attack speed. No other champion in the game has that. He doubled the limit. The only major changes to his build is now to build both attack speed and on hit effect items. Old kog you would build a item 3153 , item 3085 , then AD. New kog you need to build item 3124 , item 3085 , then on hit effect items like item 3091 to be op.
