Shen suggesion
His Q should damage units it passes through.
It just doesn't make sense how a giant sword flying through your face doesn't deal any damage.

well it's not really a sword per se, it's supossed to be a manifestation of ki? kinda like a spirit more than an actual sword. I imagine that's why it moves the way it does instead of actually pointing towards Shen and flying aggressively
Even so.
Bodies of energy flying at high speed tend to deal damage in league.
I'm with you on this one; the sword "materializes" when it reaches Shen, empowering his attacks.
Also, from a balance standpoint, he pushes waves fast enough right now as is.
Riot could make it so the spell only does damage to champions it passes through.. doesn't have to do it to minions too. I agree giving shen upfront wave clear would be dumb.
Does he really need the increase in power though? The ability already gives him 15% max health damage every 5 seconds.........And if it passes through enemies first it deals 21%.........I mean yikes. Shen already seems very strong at brawling, giving him more power kinda seems unnecessary.
It would also be weird to implement tbh. After seeing shen in action on the pbe, the only way he would be able to use the sword to harass in the way you are talking about would be if he went ham previously (and therefore got the sword on the back side of the opponent before needing to activate it) making is sorta counter intuitive as a ranged poke method.
Where the hell are you getting 15-21% max HP damage holy shit dood, its 5%/7% literally 1/3 of what you are preaching.

Yeah so if shen E's then presses Q, the Q should do damage. Their is nothing wrong with this, my argument is, if you are going to take away his ability to be safe @ range with poke/farm/sustain, then at least make his "all in" better. Its called as riot likes to say: Defining champion strengths and weaknesses.
"Shen's next 3 attacks deal 3/3.5/4/4.5/5% (+ ~1.5% per 100 AP ) of their target's max health as bonus magic damage. If the spirit blade collided with an enemy champion, those attacks deal 5/5.5/6/6.5/7% (+ ~2% per 100 AP) instead and have +50% Attack Speed."
So if I'm reading that right, at level 5 in the ability, Shen's next 3 attacks deal 5% each attack, for a total of 15% max health. If his Q passes through someone, its buffed to 7% per attack. Unless I'm misreading that?
With that cleared up, I think they did compensate him and make his all in better. Consider: He hits his E (which now has a health ratio), gains a shield, drags his Q through (at this point his target is going to be slowed if they run), and now gets +50% attack speed and does, at level 3, 15% of their max health plus his normal damage.
He lost his sustain, but gained a shield that is up far more often; similar to how riven's health regen was nerfed a while back (it got reverted now but sure) in favor of her using her shield to take good trades; the mentality is the same with Shen now. Its actually a healthy change in my opinion; Shen interacts with his lane opponent far more than before.
Yeah i suppose if you are adding all 3 together sure, but lets not forget its bonus MAGIC damage, so MR will reduce this significantly.
I don't want you to think i dont like the rework entirely, but he 100% lost damage in the current PBE state.
His previous Q and passive were magic damage also, mr reduced his previous damage also, so I don't really see your point here.
Also, could you please explain how he lost damage? I think I have made my point that his Q deals far more damage now, and this isn't counting the bonus damage to monsters and minions (allowing shen to jungle?). Nor have I really talked about how his shadow dash deals physical damage (making it harder it itemize against him) and scales off of bonus health. So I have to admit that I am a little confused about where you think he is losing damage compared to live.
it does deal damage to units it passes through...
Actually it doesn't
No, no it does not.
Twilight Assault (Q)
140/130/120/110/100 Energy
8/7.25/6.5/5.75/5 sec Cooldown
Shen recalls his spirit blade and draws it. Enemies it collides with are slowed by 35% when moving away from Shen for the next 2 seconds.
Shen's next 3 attacks deal 3/3.5/4/4.5/5% (+ ~1.5% per 100 AP ) of their target's max health as bonus magic damage. If the spirit blade collided with an enemy champion, those attacks deal 5/5.5/6/6.5/7% (+ ~2% per 100 AP) instead and have +50% Attack Speed.
Minions and monsters take an extra 30/50/70/90/110 bonus damage per attack.
Nowhere in the tooltip does it mention dealing damage to targets it strikes through.
All that happens to targets hit by the sword is a situational slow and an increase to the % HP damage on his next few autos.
Another suggestion: Instead of a somewhat out of place spirit sword, could it be like, an "Eye of Twilight" that grants vision wherever it is hanging out? Would feel more thematic, could still function exactly the same otherwise. Just a thought. Would also be cool if when you hit Q to bring it to you it was a pink ward temporarily. Fits thematically with his lore and his protective theme.
I'm just glad someone pointed this out before I played him.
