What is the state of Udyr considered?

Hello, a humble Platinum, 6 year veteran Udyr main here (from las server). Been looking at the tier lists recently and he has been placed in most of them in Tier 2 at best :/ He feels really weak, as does his DPS. Throw in all the movement speed on champs now a days and i cant even reach targets mosts days.

Maybe its just me, idk, what builds have others had success with? I just feel like he needs a buff, maybe not to his DPS, preferably to his stickiness, his movement speed and ability to stick to targets. My theory is his damage is there, but being an all round Melee champ with no slows or dashes, dependent on his E speed boost, in a meta full of Mov speed items and spells, im just not being able to grab targets unless i invest in a which is impractical. Edit: PS im not actually buying i was just using it to emphasis a point :/ Thoughts :/ ?[zombie-nunu-bummed]

Udyr plays a lot smoother than he used to thanks to his mini-rework, but he's still not in a perfect spot by any stretch, imo. His core issue is, and always has been, that he's too binary, just like any other juggernaut: if he gets kited or locked down, which is relatively easy to do, he can't do anything at all, since he's short-ranged and has to run to his target, but because his power is so focused on constant, single-target damage and waveclear, along with good roaming, he is always prone to abusively good splitpushing, and doesn't really offer any outplay opportunities at melee range.

What I think Udyr, and pretty much every other juggernaut needs, is an update to make him less binary overall: he needs to have a decent chance at reaching his target no matter what, and more tools to make an impact in teamfights, but he also needs to be more interactive. Stance dancing is great, and should still be the core of his playstyle, but he needs to offer his opponents, particularly melee opponents, opportunities to mitigate his power or otherwise counter him.

As for builds, when I go with him I generally pick Cinderhulk + Trinity Force + Boots of Swiftness as my core, and then load up mostly on tankier items to splitpush. It might not be the best idea, as it limits my pushing power somewhat, but it helps immensely when the enemy team converges on my location and goes ham on me. The idea here isn't so much to solo carry the game via splitpushing, as it is to constantly draw the opposing team's attention away from the other lanes and let your allies push. I am definitely not the best Udyr player out there, and haven't had the best success with it (if your team is behind or just can't follow up, it's not very effective), but if you're with a premade it could be more successful.

you read that wrong :v Im in platinum, but ive been playing udyr since season 1 (so six years now)

Sure would be nice if Meddler could give an update on Udyr :/ god knows he needs a VSU his base is horrendous. And some sort of buff cuz he is really off meta rn

Look at my account's Name "NA Darklarik" Then my Main accounts Name "Darklarik" I cant log into an participate in the NA forums with my main account yah blockhead, ive already tried. Its in the Latin American South Server. And i was in plat 2, ive hit a bit of losing streak, dosent mean i wont rise again :) Just need to figure out a different champion since my main Udyr feel like garbage right now.

Don't use item 3022 if you cant shred everyone... treat Udyr as bruiser and duelist.

I may be Silver, but Udyr is the only champion I have Mastery 7 on. When I play Udyr, I always play him FLAT TANK. item 1401 item 3742 item 3047 etc. Can't catch many champions because they have both dashes AND major slows, so I just run at them while tanking damage and my team follows to get the kills. That's the only way I can find him playable. His damage may be there, but to invest in it means someone like Caitlyn can kill you before you get close.

In teamfights I just sit on my ADC and stun whoever tries to kill them. But if I'm solo queueing I just splitpush and focus on objectives. He could use some love to bear stance maybe but other than that buffing Udyr is a dangerous game.
