PSA: Mordekaiser
-
Biggest counter (that I've found) is Nasus My reasoning for this is simple. Nasus will not want to fight you, and will zone HIMSELF, until he has Sheen and 100 stacks. At that point he will wreck your whole face because Mordekaiser wins extended trades, and Nasus chunks too hard for Morde to hold out under that onslaught. Coupled with the Wither to reduce his mobility even further, and the fact that he WANTS Morde to pull him in under most circumstances, there is little that Mordekaiser can do. Nasus also nullifies Morde's ult on himself, since Nasus will then just ult and go even more apeshit than before.

His passive is not overtuned Mordekaiser's passive is his main source of damage. No, it's not his Q, because while Q deals significant damage, it's also very predictable with a brief period of windup (as Darius' Q has) that you can get away from, either via flashing or moving to the side. Mordekaiser's passive scales primarily, and best, off of HP, meaning that it only becomes truly noticeable (post-lane phase, where the mini-ticks are impactful on low base hp and defenses) if he's building at least moderately tanky. And if he's building moderately tanky, his other abilities/other half of his passive won't do damage. Expect him to build a rylais sceptre and liandries torment, meaning that
is your friend. Itemizing is a core feature of league of legends, use it to your advantage. -
His ultimate is not overpowered. The amount of interactions that negatively impact his ultimate are downright ridiculous.
will remove it, and that's something any champion can buy if he starts targeting you every fight. It straight up deletes the ultimate. Potentially
will have the same effect. That's just an item, too, nevermind all the champions that can force their way out.
, not to mention that you can also cancel it through fog-of-war, zhonyas as he's casting it (it has a cast time), spellshielding, stealthing (anything of the sort that cancels line-of-sight) will also cancel his ultimate. Then there's stalling the 7 seconds out, which a Zhonyas and some form of CC will do the whole trick for. -
His healing is not a problem. Yes, that shield can seem overbearing- he's primarily a tank, after all. The first proper AP juggernaut that Riot's managed to release. His shield is massive and it feels oppressive, and if you can't break it, he can get some healing off as well, sizeable if he builds a spirit visage.
is all I need to say.
That's all I can think of right off the bat, I'll also happily post some tips for playing him for people who're struggling. I've spent a good amount of time on the PBE testing out his lane interactions (and was delighted when Riot added his passive activating against jungle camps), and I feel like while I haven't anywhere near mastered the champion, I do know his strengths and weaknesses enough to exploit them no matter what side of the coin I'm on. But I wanted to post this thread because I'm seeing a lot of complaints come up, and felt like posting some useful tips in regards to the three top complaints.
is a solid counter to lane Morde. As long as Yorick holds his ultimate it makes it much harder for Morde to use his own ultimate. Also rushing
