Yorick Update Feedback Thread

This is the link to the PBE thread where discussion and ideation is going on regarding the Rework and PBE state of his skills. From what I can see the general consensus seems to be that his sustain is really weak after the first few levels on an ability with a CD that is just slightly too long. Then we have general grumblings about his minion AI, which is pretty binary, and mostly concerned with the AI of the Maiden here. Lastly the major concerns regarding the wall seem to be an issue, with it falling in microseconds to skilled opponents.

For those of us not on the PBE (like myself), this poses a very interesting and difficult question, how can we do anything to be heard regarding these issues as well. There is a likelihood that he goes live as is, with weaker sustain, unpredictable AI, and a wall that would be great in a world with no dashes (everyone has a dash now days), such an event ends up putting out a weak rework that people would ultimately be less than thrilled about and require months before getting the attention it needs.

1- I want to echo that New Yorick's Q sustain should scale with something, health, AD, number of mistwalkers up at the time.

2- His passive should generate some kind of graves at a steady pace outside of having to be around enemies dying, maybe including friendly units would help, or just having a 15/10/5 second internal production rate of them (maybe souls seeking guidance are seeking him out from enemies long since dead. . . Lore wise).

3- His W wall might strongly benefit from a grounded effect (no dashes while in it, auto your way out or position better), if not for the full duration than maybe for 2 seconds (the length of time it should take anyone but Jhin to destroy that wall with just auto's late game).

4- His E looks nice, and is actually a way to make his kit feel more cohesive, they could put the sustain boost to his Q here instead, marked targets increase the sustain effect by adding a scaling. . . that would definitely link up his skills and make avoiding the E cast more valuable to enemies, while landing it would be even better for the Yorick player.

5- Maiden really could benefit from a Call feature, where she comes to Yorick when called and attacks what he is attacking (currently on PBE we see her just auto push a lane anytime she enters one ignoring whether Yorick wants to push that lane or go join a teamfight).

I am both excited for the new kit and concerned that it will end up being far less good than many of the other recent reworks and want to see this turn out really good. We should seek to give feedback here and hope that Riot can see what our concerns and thoughts as well, it would be nice to finally have a Yorick that is both fun to play and play against.

That'd be alright, except that Tibbers is at least controllable, Yorick's Maiden isn't . = /

This was my main concern. What about ARAM Yorick? You think the five people on the enemy team and his four cs hungry teammates are just gonna stand back and let him dig graves? Does the maiden always run down mid in ARAM since the whole map is one big lane? Because that would suck. Or what about the rotating game modes that don't have cs? Ascension has no neutral monsters (outside of Xerath) or minions, does that mean Yorick is going to have to last hit three enemy champs with his Q all in close proximity to each other before he can raise ghouls? Hexakill isn't the best place to grab cs either, since you usually end up laning with at least one or two other champs or fighting tooth and nail to be the solo jungler.

They should probably have a system like Zyra's bulbs where they just randomly spawn around him or Bard's chimes where they appear in places all over the map. And the maiden should have no auto-push AI and just follow Yorick around all the time in game modes that only have one lane like Poro King.

He is getting some ghouls passively, but in ARAM it's going to be really a pain since it's just one long Teamfight where you don't get to last hit for Q's often. they really do need to have some sort of passive counter on grave generation. That aside, he also is going to suffer from having lower sustain, if they made it harder to effectively utilize the sustain that's fine (by utilizing both Q and E to get bonus sustain), provided they kept near current levels of sustain, but they have not.

Controlling the mist walkers in some way beyond just landing an E would be nice, but even better would be if they just stayed leashed to Yorick all the time. Sure them running down lane is nice, but he really does not feel like a minionmancer with them running to suicide at the nearest possible chance. We either should have a lot of them coming over and over, or a way to have them be leashed to Yorick, maybe they change at a certain level, then Riot could potentially do both, have a better spawn rate of them and more control as the game goes on. I could see them becoming leashed at lv 11, just about the time team fighting begins.

That's a good call, though the purpose of boards is always discussion and this is specific to a champions gameplay, not just a general feeling of that champ. Thanks for the though, I might drop it in there too.

Why do turrets prioritse the Maiden of the Mists over minions? Makes her a useless split pusher.

I agree somewhat, but when she was focused after minions the testing they had showed she became a must answer threat which meant a 4v5 elsewhere. I could see how that could be an issue, would be quite discouraging to see an AI element literally taking your base with a large wave of minions that she was surrounded by just letting her full damage the towers the whole time. It does make the idea of her splitting by herself completely useless though.
