Would Yorick be OP if. . .

His mistwalkers attacked whatever he was attacking? Instead of only attacking things marked with E, perhaps anything in his W would be marked and enemies hit with Q would be marked as well?

They die in one hit and rarely land an auto before derp mode engages.

Based on how their damage is right now, probably

Making it so you have to land E to get them to focus an enemy champion was to give Yorick counterplay. Taking that away would basically just make him as toxic to go against as old yorick

only if hit by Q

and give em some defenses, 15% of yoricks would do

They could reduce the base damage of the mistwalkers if need be to allot for them being more reliable.

The AI of the old ghouls prioritized what you cast them on (in the case of E) or champions first if their main target was down. This meant that only W actually auto rushed champs. Further more now days you have to get in melee range basically to do any real damage, so the counterplay is still there, the only way the ghouls would rush a champ is if you tried to trade, keep in mind he has to dig all his graves still, this is in no way like the Yorick of old. Because there is no on demand graves he feels like he should have some control over them that is reliable, otherwise he is gimped by missing E.

Agreed Rockm, they are the most derpy AI in the game, Minions are smarter by far (and that's really sad).

I could get down with only by Q Spoofghoul, that's actually a good idea. Defenses though feels bad to me, if Yorick gets tanky they could then soak 2 or 3 tower shots even at 15% of his armor/MR, that's just more reason to play him split push and doesn't help him in fights where he needs to be able to make his ghouls actually do something.

An alternative solution may just be to increase the reliability of his E, but then it becomes slightly oppressive with the pure damage on it, which I think is very balanced right now. Increasing it's missile travel speed or the size of the E might assist with this, but could push his waveclear too high.

I still feel like he needs at least one reliable control or a way to produce graves without minions/monsters around.

Yorick feels okay right now, but could be actually good if he received just minor touches here or there. Just adjusting his numbers really won't solve any of the issues that he has right now, because his kit hinges on 2 things that makes it work. Without landing E he feels incredibly underpowered, maybe they could make it hit everything within his close range and still have the skill shot for targets far away, then increase it's CD so it's not spammable early and thus make him fairly balanced in laning with clear opportunities to engage him if he tries to poke from afar and misses.

If you did that then it would basically be old yorick all over again.

But it is not, he does not have mistwalkers on demand, and their AI is different from the old ghouls. He would actually have to land his E W or be in melee range for the Q. His counterplay would be to be aware of what he has used and move in when he is either at 0 graves, or he missed his E, especially since most champs can just use a mobility skill to avoid the wall anyhow. A Juggernaut against him would really be the only one in danger and his ghouls are exceptionally squishy to everything including AoE right now.

Then you can also play the mana game on him too, because he needs to Q three minions at least before having mistwalkers anyhow. No, him having more control over his sheep is not a bad thing, not with how his kit is designed right now. Even if it was just on Q, that would be fair.
