How Riot could reduce toxicity in chat

I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but here is how Riot could actually reduce toxicity in chat.

Let the player know when they have been muted. In chat it would say <Player1> has muted you

It's a win-win. People would mute each other more often! And people who are muted would stop typing nonsense into chat because they know it would be pointless.

Not a terrible idea in the least, but I don't think it would really solve the problem. People who are toxic in chat will not stop because one person muted them; more than a few of them want to vent and be the loudest person in the game, and the one mute won't do anything.

I also see it having the opposite effect, in some extreme cases, where if a toxic player (especially if a bot lane player) knows the other person muted them, they might do actions in game to get their attention, such as feeding, watching their partner die and walk away, things like that. I doubt that would be the norm, but I think it could bring about a few cases like that. If a player is toxic, they will find a way of being toxic, muted or not.

But it's absolutely not a terrible idea. Just not sure if it would really help. Good thought though.

I like your thinking tbh but.....my main issue with riot is how relaxed they are with their punishment system, granted I don't know how it works, but they are to slow, and lenient with their punishment honestly it's pathetic, my roommate and I played together for a solid year, (this past year to be exact) for at least 2-3 hours 3-4 days a week, and he would regularly tell people to kill themselves, uninstall etc. just now he was banned for 2 weeks......really 2weeks for telling people to kill themselves, hell even I would report him most of the time, and it took them a freaking year an entire year to give him 1 two week ban it's pathetic, this is why toxicity is such an issue the punishment is a joke
