Integrate Lore in the game and a question

I'm new to the game so ignore this if it's already been proposed...

Why isn't the lore integrated in the game in terms of stats? Wouldn't that make champion selection more strategic?

For example, MF v GP in the opposing teams; MF gains more gold for bringing down GP's empire (aka killing him in the particular game first) and GP gains more tenacity for surviving the attempt to his life (if he kills MF first)...

Another example would be Shen v Zed, Yasuo v Riven etc.

The concept came from Rengar v Khazix in-game gains.

What do you guys think? Would that make people more interested in the lore?

Question: I was reading some parts of the lore the other day but I can't figure out what the opposite of the Void is. Does anyone know? Is there even a dimension that's full of light creatures/spirits?

Soraka v Warwick would be a fun one too.

Probably be some big balancing issues that don't seem worth it.

I'd say the opposite of The Void is Ionia. But not really... Well it would come closest to it.

Or The Blessed Isles, but they are now the Shadow Isles so that doesn't really count either.

I was thinking maybe the Glade that is the opposite (Lulu's origin) but we only have her from there so it doesnt feel like it...

I don't remember why they stayed away from this, but I'm assuming because it probably had to do with unfair advantages simply by playing a character into another.

I mean, the Rengar vs Kha buffs were kind of crazy for both of them. Wouldn't be right if almost every champion got something similar. Plus not many games have a Rengar vs Kha, so that special interaction doesn't cause many issues and is easily balanced.

Example: the GP vs MF scenario you gave would be pretty boring and cause either team to snowball quickly just for getting a kill. Might even make GPs go bot or MFs go top just to get that advantage over the enemy if they picked the rival. Extra gold or permanent tenacity? Would be broken in such a snowball game where the early lead can help dominate the game.

I can see a lot going wrong with these types of situations, and not to mention balancing it would be a nightmare since certain champs would get a huge power spike simply killing a specific enemy champion.

As for the void opposition. I don't think there is a "true" rival to them unlike the Runeterra factions. If anything I guess the void is enemies to all since they don't care if you're Demacian, Noxian, etc. They just want to devour and evolve :P The closest we come to a rival faction though is mostly through skins; Star Guardians, Archlight, etc. But skins usually aren't cannon.

Thank you for the complete answer buddy!

I didn't think it would be so difficult to balance tbh or that people would snowball early.

How about making it happen at certain lvls like Rengar v Khazix and only 1v1 kills? And maybe change the rewards to sth more practical?

I was thinking of it as in-game rivalries actually.

It's a bit tough to think what would be easy to balance and what wouldn't since we aren't developers for Riot haha. Obviously you could put restrictions, but I think a lot of this is just balancing issues in general. Imagine having to balance rival bonuses for the 100+ champs we have, and how those number would affect early, mid, and late game. Might even stagnate the pick pool diversity, because if someone goes MF you should go GP to get that bonus.

I think it's fine remaining with Kha and Rengar since their lore is extremely tied together and they were released roughly at the same point.

Granted, other champs have their lore closely knit with others, but they weren't built with that rivalry in mind.

It's a cool idea don't get me wrong. I love me some rivalry matches. But game-wise it doesn't seem really feasible since you're giving a champion an inherent advantage simply by existing in the same game as another specific champion.

If anything. I would prefer more silly interactions that don't affect gameplay. Like the Commando skins taking -1 damage from sunlight. Or the Cops vs Robbers buff, totally meaningless but super fun to stack. Nothing that could break the game, but still gives fun little interactions for the lore.

Ah I didn't realize you mentioned in game for void! My apologies :)

I think for the void creatures it's all dependent on their individual relationships. A lot dont have canon rivals outside of Kha and Vel. But I guess if we're throwing suggestions I think Rammus and Rek would be a good rivalry.

Faction wise wouldn't work, but if we found individual rivals for each voidling that might work better :)
