Unbenching the Kench without causing a Stench
Tahm Kench is doing pretty weak everywhere, which is sort of good due to how much of a pain he is to play against; but what if, instead of leaving him in the dumpster, we relieved the stress of playing against him in a way that opens up buffs in other areas.
You can't remove his ridiculous health pool, it's a pain in the ass but it's what makes him fun to play, but instead you can lower how long his opponent is CC'd, but in turn give Tahm Kench more ability to fight people who aren't stunlocked from three stacked Q. It'd be easy to do this by lowering the duration on his W, but that's unsatisfying, nerfs the defining core of his kit and character, and wouldn't really make him more fun to play against.
Instead, his three stack Q should be able to "flick" players into W instead of stun them.
The stun on three stack Q was one of the biggest sour points on his kit. It was the moment you'd think "Oh my god I'm going to be stuck with this fat asshole until one of us dies." It's comparable to Brainsuckers in Bloodborne, who have a ranged stun into a grab the steals a finite resource in the game; not fun. By removing the stun on Q it opens up the ability to buff him without being as worried about him becoming a pain in the ass to play against again, while also adding an interaction that's already on his kit, thus unifying it more.
As for the actual buffs themselves, I can't playtest anything so I can't really pick anything out, but here are some suggestions. Not suggesting everything at once, just what's necessary.
- Make his E instant so its less clunky and functions better as an anti burst tool instead of a second health bar.
- Increase his base auto damage so it's easier to last hit.
- Give a reduced CD or mana on W when used on creeps so he has more stuff to do and doesn't have to worry about wasting it as much.
- Increase the radius/damage on NPC W so he can have a greater impact in teamfights when his ADC isn't in trouble.
- Make it so he can eat/regurgitate while moving so there's more situations where he can help people escape.
- Flat out buff his health/damage so he can still duel well without Q stun.
- Reduce the warning time on his ult so it's better for flanking instead of just getting back to lane.
If he still needs to be less of a stat check and there still needs to be room, you can also nerf his move speed so it's more of a kite check.
Anyways I'm just sad for the toad, I saw him being in this state from the moment they buffed him when he was already decent. I want to be able to play him without feeling like I'm making it a 4v5 for my team or that I'm making the game feel like a boring slog for my enemies. His VO and lore is great, he just needs his kit fixed up.
