I started playing this game when Karthus got his VU and every single one since (except Fiora) has been absolutely fantastic, they're my favorite part of the game.

However I've noticed a pattern, very few VU's actually carry over iconic lines from champions. While Riot has said that this is to prevent them from "turning into a joke" I think it's absolutely vital that the lines be carried over. It does so goddamn much to make the champion still feel like the same person. Instead of dismissing old champions as trash and trying to stay as far away from them as possible while only maintaining the very core, the VUs should embrace the character.

The only VU that did this right was Taric's, he didn't become an entirely different person, he just became old Taric times two, and that's good. I just have a feeling that Yorick would feel a bit more like Yorick if he said "You will remember Yorick Mori" or Ryze kept making dumb rune prison puns. Sion is one of my favorite characters but, if in the middle of fighting he yelled "STOP BEING A BONEHEAD" I wouldn't think "oh wow they turned him into a joke lazy rito didnt fix anything", I would fucking squeal cause Sion's being Sion.

When you're reworking Warwick, please keep "It's only fun when they run" and when you're reworking Mordekaiser please keep "You only need to click once, fool!" I know it's a very very small thing, but it's important to the people who main them. It doesn't turn them into jokes, it keeps them being themselves.

Breaking 4th wall doesn't fit to League of Legends IMO. I would prefer any sadistic, malicious quote of him to this.

"It's only fun if they run" is something that would actually fit with their intended theme of "violence" for Warwick

FFS, Morde, Nocturne, Eve, etc are not breaking the 4th wall. They're speaking to YOU, the SUMMONER, multiple of whom exists in Runeterra as the diplomatic overseers for national conflicts in the League of Legends. They essentially decide the fate of the world based on avatars they summon who have applied to and been accepted into the league. Some joined for glory, some joined to have an influence on the outcome of the world. Some are imprisoned.

Don't you know anything about the lore?

The problem is that Riot got rid of the original good lore, and replaced it with a world that has no direction; no purpose for these characters congregating. For some ungodly (no pun intended) reason, gods are associating themselves with mortals who they have no business associating with under the new lore. The physical manifestation of death is just casually fighting alongside a fluffy yordle with a blowgun. Just because. The literal creator of stars is hanging out with a guy that basically only says Demacia. Just because.

To me, removing summoners from the game weakens the experience. Summoners should be reinstated, tbh.

Sion has one (or maybe a few?) Arnold quote(s?) left. I remember getting one in the middle of a fight last week that despite ~50k mastery I'd never heard before, and burst out laughing.

I never played the old fiora because i think i joined around november but the 2nd character i brought after lux was fiora, simply because she was a cool fencer chick. Her old outfit did not look royal.. It looked like she cut up some tissue and put it on as a cape. Hopefully her new splashes will be better. I do think she would look nice with some more hair though

I think some champions need updates like Nasus, Yi or Karthus, where it is a visual and VO update, while managing to be the same champion and not drastically changing their kit and personality. I fear the day will come when they will gut some of my favourite champions. Not every update needs to flip an entire champions kit and personality around.

For me Fiora's rework in terms of abilities was fine however the visual change made her seem like a complete snob instead of the bad ass chick that wanted to redeem her family name which her father tarnished. She became a laugh in your face 'I'm better than' you character trope instead of the noble Fiora that wanted her skill to exceed the ruined reputation of her family name.

I think it's more important that the voice lines represent the character and not cater to a sense of Nostalgia one might have. "It's only fun when they run" Does fit the new and old WW as it highlights his sadistic nature. "You only need to click once, fool!" doesn't suit Morde as well, breaking the 4th wall and all and might get removed with a full VO.
