Rod of Ages is too good atm tbh
It costs 3000 G
It's stats cost 3100G
when fully stacked it's stats would cost 5063 G

Yes. It also takes 10 minutes to get to max stacks.

Yes, but why should it be cost effective before even having stacks?
Let's also not forget that it has another passive.
Because you essentially have to buy it as your first item (or second technically after boots) for it to be useful. You can't buy it as your third item because by that point the health and mana you get from its passive aren't as significant, and the stacks mean it won't be efficient until late game as opposed to mid game.
And yes, it has other passives. That stop once you reach 18. Like how a Manamune or an Archangel's Staff gives you more mana until you hit the cap and the item transforms. And then once they hit their cap they don't do anything, just like a Rod of Ages. Except oh wait they both have actives.
Rod of Ages is a SUSTAIN item that has no functions late game other than providing base stats. It has no actives. It has no passives. It is just a chunk of a stick that gives you health, mana, and AP.
Rod and abyssal are the only good AP items left. No nerfs please.
Yep, nerf it now. We can't allow good AP items to exist.
ofc not we need to appease our AD overlords
It's stats cost 3100G
What? Its stats cost 1250x8/6+1000x3/3.8=2456(counted based on NLR and Giants Belt) since mana is almost useless. And when stacked its 1250x12/6+1000x5/3.8=3815 but it requires 10 minutes to stack
Did you even read it?
It's good but most champions don't benefit equally from all of its stats and you do sacrifice early game power/roaming ability. It's just a ball of stats so of course it's gold efficient, especially after waiting 10 minutes instead of getting immediate power. However, the gold-efficiency relative to other choices is misleading because it doesn't offer CDR, or a great active/passive and its stats are very general. The mana is overkill on many champions and some aren't that interested in health (Xerath for example) due to the nature of their playstyle. For more early-mid game focused champions, the opportunity cost in laning and during the stacking phase may be too high to justify.
So. I have checked things using the lol wiki. 1.4 gold per mana. 21.75 per AP. 2.666 per HP 3002.66+4001.4+21.7580= 3098 Before the passive is take into account. About 100% efficient Checking items at the same price point, Nashor's tooth has 8021.75+50*25=2990. About 100% efficient before the passives.
The cooldown reduction and On hit effect of Nashor's also scale through the game as you get more AP. I don't think ROA is too far out of line.
the only reason it is good is because it is the only affordable ap item atm
RoA is fine. Health is less efficient on mages than it is on tanks because mages don't have resistances to make it stronger.
Mana is nice, but it's basically a required stat on mages so I don't think we should overprice it. The only reason mages build mana is because their level 18 mana is so low.
The AP is just necessary. AP champions need AP, who knew.
RoA is a good item. It's not TOO good of an item.
That's because Rod of Ages offers nothing besides stats (and the situational Catalyst passive).
It doesn't offer a useful active, a useful passive, or anything unique. It is just a stat stick, so it has to be more cost efficient than other items in pure stats to be worth anything.
