Is it really bad to boost other people?

So in my case I have a friend that just started playing and he wanted to lvl up quickly and get more ip so he can buy more champs. He will still be playing against bots until he gets good enough but he just wanted to get good at the champ he wanted to play. In this case would boosting still be bad?

I don't understand what you mean by "boosting" in this particular case.

Boosting refers to a high-Elo player logging into a low-Elo player's account and playing to unfairly get that person's rank up. Recently it's also used to refer to using Dynamic Queue in ranked to party up with low-Elo players and unfairly get their rank up.

I don't see how this applies in your case. Mind clarifying?

yeah I'm playing with my friend not on his account so that he can practice playing better

Oh, well that's completely different, then.

Yeah that's totally fine. It's not even boosting. It's playing with a low level friend, and people have been doing it for ages.

Go ahead and do it!

if you play on his account in normals when he is offline or whatever to level up his accounts, technically yes its against terms of service.

it wouldn't matter much since his account getting banned probably doesn't have much on it, but none the less that is against the rules.

the leveling system is designed in a way to get players some experience before they go into ranked or whatever. the problem is the leveling system is filled with tons of smurfs and until your MMR rapidly lowers to where it should be with other actual new players your first few levels you will just get continually assblasted.

Its up to you, but account sharing can and will get your account suspended. I know it got one of mine suspended. so i dont recommend it to anyone. just tell him to be patient.

Oh no I'm not on my friends account I'm playing with him

then you are fine. nothing wrong with playing with a friend. even in ranked. even smurfing. its all allowed. its not boosting unless you are on their account.

the only downside to playing with him when you are experienced is you will certainly put him in the "smurf queue" for new players (his mmr will inflate cuz you inevitably carry him in some games to an average win rate so the game doesnt think hes a new player). so he wont ever have the experiene of playing against other new players if you play with him constantly. but even then that's all up to you! (note that the smurf queue is just a slang term for new players having higher mmr and being paired with other smurfs...it doesnt ACTUALLY exist)

Oh okk i mean he's going to still play against bots for a while but I'm helping him win faster so he gets more IP for more champs :/ when he starts playing normals then gg haha

Just keep in mind to explain your decision-making, it can be confusing to newer players how we act. Why u didnt fight her/him? because the powerspike from champion X is stronger than mine, explain him everything that is needed to sruvive on the rift, give him tips how to play champs and against champions. What to do when winning/losing the lane.

Helping a player learn the basics of a game is different from "helping" a player to get a different ranking that he usually doesn't deserve.

Or to help you clarify, one helps someone get into a game and learn, the other is merely wanting to look better.

So is helping someone learn a new game a bad thing? No way.

boosting is playing RANKED on another persons account to get them to an elo that they don't deserve (or using a smurf that is significantly lower elo than your level to duo).

you aren't boosting if its bots/norms.
