Is it just me or is the quality of the game going downhill hard

I'm only asking this because I know there are some out there that will argue it is not, but I'm the guy that only plays ranked just so I can have a challenging experience vs normals where no one cares. Sadly, these days ranked just feels like a joke too.

player quality feels a lot more noticeably worse than game imo

way too many people this season who give up 5 minutes in

Yep. Just had a ranked Ahri game, almost an hour-long because;

  1. We had TWO bronzes with 13% winrate and 9% winrate. In bronze.
  2. Enemy team had a D3 Khazix with 60% winrate in fucking diamond.
  3. Vi DC'd, then I proceeded to watch Varus get 100-0'd almost every single fight.
  4. Then I got deathcap and 100-0'd at least two people each fight from just Q+W.

It wasn't even fun anymore. If I land either Q or E, someone instantly dies. If Khazix Qs Varus, he instantly dies. (That was when he didn't even have kills) If Syndra breathes on someone, they instantly die. We don't need that level of damage in the game. Also, better matchmaking please.

It's pretty bad. But I found a new guilty pleasure. Since tank items aren't that good anymore because there's so much damage now, I just play zed. As zed, I can burst down squishies but also chunk down tanks. Normally, if someone goes frozen heart, thornmail, randuins, sunfire, deadmans, just one of those items is enough to heavily reduce zed's damage. But now in the current season, you could have all those that I mentioned and zed will still chunk you hard. So riot wants to make tanks squishier, fine by me. I just play zed. Kill adcs, kill tanks, feels good.

People give up more because games are so snowbally it's ridiculous.

Personally i've noticed a distinct shift these last 2 seasons, where i'd rather lose a 15minute game than win a 40 minute one.

Once you're behind the game is so insanely frustrating when you're behind nowadays.

Champion design/balance is terrible. So much burst and mobility.

Players seem very toxic too. Many griefers and AFKers (did they increase the threshold to punish players recently?).

When does summer break end where you live?

I agree. Player quality has decreased, but riot has thrown any semblance of balance out the window. In previous seasons there was always that new champ or new op build that was just blatantly op, but what kept me playing was thinking well riot will nerf this in a patch or two, but this season instead of nerfing anything its just buff every other disgusting champ to someone counter the other op champs. Half the champs are nearly unplayable in the meta because of it That is why I couldn't bring myself to play regurally anymore

Quality in this game? uff . last time i heared it was in season 6.

ranked is a joke since basically 2 years but this season its the most random shit ive ever played. i was so happy cuz i´m near plat 4 but then i got a streak of junglers who are not even allowed to play in iron league. Fun 2 lose every single game cause one position is basically first time in this game. the "skillfactor" means actually rly who has the better team. Own skill doesnt matter anymore since league becomes a place where every champ deal 5k damage per Spell and resistence becomes absolutely useless

only playing this game cuz my Pc isnt the best and cant play better games so but otherwise there is no reason to play this weird game anymore. Climb in rang is full based on the teammates u get. thats the reason why even in diamond and masters play some ppl who are less than bronze....

It isn't just you who thinks that the quality is dyeing, a good 75% of the community thinks this. Everyone liked the simple concepts where tanks were tanks, fighters were fighters, assassins were assassins, mages were mages, marksmen were marksmen, supports were supports and true damage came from rebuff and ignite. Now a days the roles are so diverse that tanks do damage, fighters do true damage, mages can spam, marksmen can do %health dmg, assassins burst, and supports get nerfed. If League is going to fix this at all, they need to revert back to the simple things by reverting to simple roles, items, runes and kits. The diversity is so boring because they remove the opportunity for everyone and limit to only a handful of a few in game. If they were generalized, then the players themselves can have more of a chance to add their own diversity into the mix rather than forced a 1 road way build.

Because Riot has already achieved this, I have no doubt in my mind that they don't care, won't move on with this idea, and will not look back at their mistakes or introduce new concepts into a ranked gameplay. After all, they're here for the money. Not the player's experience.

Ive found heroes of the storm to be a better game in almost every way besides the niche amounts of lane splitting.

Packun Flower9/1/2019, 10:55:43 PM1 votes

I jumped ship when Damage was getting out of control and they did nothing to remedy it. Now I am seeing the amount of high damage is driven away a good portion of the community and Riot is still adding more and more damage every patch.

I'm really glad I jumped ship when I did. What a shitshow this has become.

I think its the meta that has shifted so drastically the last few seasons and yet has remained stuck. What I mean by that is that you used to have a new 'class' of style of champion in each role that were in meta every few months. Bot would rotate between late game scalers, early game powerhouses, and mid-game utility. Mid used to rotate between control mages, assassins, dps mages, and snipers. Top would rotate between tanks, bruisers, and fighters. Jungle would rotate between squishy assassins to utility, etc.

It's been stuck as a full damage fuckfest for over a season now. Its the first time pretty much ever that tanks as a whole class are completely worthless. Teams can build full ad and not even have to worry about armor because of how cranked up damage is. The meta is different from what its ever been yet its stayed this way for a year so its also stale.

The damage is so high in the game right now its turned the game into a 'go big or go home' only style of game. There is no sit back and scale anymore. Losing lane is almost guaranteed to cost you the game. Snowballs are in each and every match and are practically a given with certain champions. Comebacks are harder than they have ever been.

Supports, tanks, utility players, and team-centric picks, in general, have been nerfed into oblivion thanks to pro-play and this new damage fetish riot have now. It's world of assassins, bruisers, and juggernauts. The other dozen classes and subclasses might as well go shove it. That is why the game feels worse this season. IT is, in terms of the meta.

Just like at Qiyana. An assassin with an AoE stun that she doesn't even have to hit you with, just the wall behind you. That might as well be the hallmark of the current meta.

The Kombinator9/2/2019, 10:53:06 AM1 votes

Well they made the game faster with all the extra damage, and more punishing for losing the lane, and more punishing for losing objective.

GayrensTari9/1/2019, 12:55:55 AM1 votes

They spend all their time on cheesy and out of character champion interaction quotes perhapse.

Pandemic Punch9/2/2019, 12:02:07 PM1 votes

No Tanks for nearly 3 seasons has kept the meta in the same state for way too long. You either deal damage or you lose.
