Champion pool getting smaller and smaller when its getting bigger and bigger

I may be wrong and others may have other opinions, but I feel like I'm seeing the same champions over and over again. In every game I see a kai sa, irelia, sylas, karthus, cait, and ezreal. I understand that they're currently the meta right now but even I feel tired and bored of playing the same champions and kind of wish I can play others without having my teammates calling me a troll and reporting me for picking like a kalista ad in this meta.

This is even true in low elo. Most likely, streamers are to blame. The majority of people will do what they think will stomp, and when streamers stick to the one or two champions they know they can cheese with, or Youtubers edit their footage so it looks like a given champion destroys everything, that's where most people will want to go. "Why play anyone else when Cait is strongest?"

100% agree

I play mostly support/adc, and the past 4 months or so have seen Kaisa Ezreal Caitlyn Jinx in the bot lane almost every single game. It's starting to get stale

In gold1 this is pretty much true. 90% of the players using one of the meta. You could erase half of the champions, and most players wouldn't even notice.

You rarely see more than 30 different champions being played because the balance team it's not doing their work.

Unless you play Toplane. There you would see 100 different champions, including ones that are simple infuriating to lane against, and Riot will tell you that "git gud" and "wow, much variety, so balanced".

hey that sucks u must be kinda unlukcy, or maybe its bc ur playing Ranked where people get a lil 2 crazy about whats "apparently" meta or not. I usually find cool people who are tolerant or LIKE trying wacky or new things or things that aren't meta ever once in a while . In fact I JUST played a game as APC bot morde and the support Rakan was cool with it and we dominated bot lane. I don't play that often but i usually see some decent variety in bot lane nowadays U just gotta develope ur own community of cool peeps. Hey I'll support u ANY day if ur playing Kalista ADC, i really like her but she's tough to play if ur teammates don't know how she works. The thing i probably like best is that i can last hit as a support with her AND the vision and objective control she can bring. I need more Kalista in my games. Pls add me id love to duo.

How's irelia meta ? I barely see her anymore in my games and even when i see her she sucks and unable to win games, She has lowest win rate in game across all elo with 44 % in master +

iunno champ pools are pretty diverse right now. it's just that they don't have to be you see, and often are forced into not being diverse because massive problem champions haven't been dealt with and new ones were made. vlad, permaproblem champion, never gonna be dealt with adequately. but rito james said they could deal with him so they made kled do the thing he now does. and karma, permabusted, never gonna be dealt with ever. here comes rito james, doing the thing to renekton in response. meanwhile boards complain about mobility, sure guys here have cass and poppy said rito james. and so on and so forth.

so you either play a stat stick or you play one of them problem champions who aren't stat sticks but have inherently broken kits that aren't item gated like the other traditional ones. or you play some broken shit that is item gated and hope you have a jungler.

Yeah sadly even tho the game is actually fairly balanced overall rn. The current player base will only play the strongest champs. But hey that's how it goes

Meh, I see this in Ranked yeah. Because everyone there is doing their best to win. And the best players are able to figure out whats good (Either research via youtube or just intuition via patch notes)

If you are able to change who you play every time a patch hits and the top tier is new then you are more likely to win

In normals though, people play who they like for the fun of it. There will always be a meta.
