The Boost Deathfire Touch Could Use
To me it just feels like the majority of the time the keystone Deathfire Touch is underwhelming and niche.
Unless you're playing a champion with extremely special AD scaling and multiple long range specially made single target abilities (Jhin!) 
Why can't this mastery feel good beyond a select few? Even on champions it does work on it feels crappy until you've scaled it up late into the game and already suffered through early.
I believe part of the problem is the keystone has no level scaling unlike fervor or thunderlords.
Even fervor which scales super hard into the game with attack speed has level scaling built in. Why don't we give DFT a little bit of level scaling maybe at expense of some AD/AP scaling with the goal to buff it mid game. This would make it feel better for champions with mana needs
(a lot of those users tend to be the one's who'd utilize DFT best especially!). This helps gives DFT more of a mid game/late game curve. (currently DFT only comes to power in late game aoe teamfights.) This is to contrast TLD which has early/mid game potency.
You could also just increase the base of DFT if you'd rather aim for an early game boost with a dip mid game. Early/Late
Only viable on Jhin who distorts its power or if you handicap yourself til late is not making the keystone competitive
I believe part of the reason mages suffered til now this season is that we didn't give them a competitive fervor of battle equivalent.
