Did you know that shields scale off of the resistances you have?

I'm not sure if I'm late to the party or what, but I didn't know this until now. Maybe this is something to keep in mind if it ever comes to nerfing locket, or shields in general if it ever comes to that.

What do you mean exactly ?

Shield is exactly like bonus HP. If someone use a basic attack dealing 100 physical damages and you have 100 shield and 0 armor : it uses the whole shield.

If you have 100 armor : it uses 50% of the shield.

I meant the way you clarified it. I guess I said it a bit weird.

I understand that a shield is like bonus hp but I didn't think it used resistances too. Don't you think it's just a bit ridiculous given all of the shield% amp abilities that the shield will use your resistances on top of that? I mean if you have 100 armor and magic resist and a beefy ap janna shield is placed on you, that's like 400 from the shield, amped by the 50% reduction. That's like 800 points on a shield on what originated as a 400 hp shield. A lot of mages abilities peak at 500-600 damage at full build, and I can get a 400 hp shield on janna with about 2 items. Or what about Karma and locket who can throw 2 400 hp shields on 5 people at once?

600 damages at full build on a mage ? :/ seems low.

for 1 ability. It varies I guess, but typically most abilities I see are about 600

Mages have around 600/650 ap at full build. Annie : Q : 220 + 80%AP = 740 Z : 250 + 85%AP = 802 R : 400 +65%AP : 822

On a low cd for Q/Z and R will keep dealing sustained damages.

Janna or Karma's locket/AOE shield will only be used once in a teamfight Janna will place more shields but it's her role.

I did not know that. It's not stated in skills or items. Are you sure? Some link to prove it? Does it scale with resistance of giving or receiving champ?

Yes the damage you are dealt always goes through your resistances before it takes away your hp and as the above comment suggests, shields are literally bonus HP that usually are temporary.

Don't you think that's a bit ridiculous though? At least in my opinion shields should be extra hp that doesn't scale off of your resistances.

I wanted to read this thread to really understand the statement but I understand now. Technically yes you are right, but someone reading the Title of the thread may not understand. Starcraft243ver Had it right. If a shield gives someone a shield for 100. It will be more useful on a tank because that 100 lasts longer due to defenses.

Yeah sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough, but don't you think that's a bit ridiculous that a shield will benefit off of your resistances? IDK about you but that's just a bit excessive.

Well I think shields in general are kinda strong now... but really a shield is like adding Health or HP to you. So it would make sense that adding extra health to a tank would benefit them more then a squishy target.

When people talk about shields being OP... I guess one way would be to make them not interact with Armor/MR. So it is the same no matter what champ it is applied to.

Damage taken also scales on your ability to dodge or stay away from it, which tankier targets with more resistance have more trouble with. So yeah shields have about the same value for any characters.

All I can say is thank jesus Poppy did not keep her old passive in this new League of Shields. It also applied to shields.... we'd have been so fucked.
