Ahri's speed boost should be on Foxfire

Bârd··78 votes·2,612 views

Most of her spells have a defined purpose, and feel like you're getting something out of it when you put a point in it.

Her passive is good sustain in the laning phase. Not overbearing, but you certainly feel it when you are playing her. Her Q is her main damage spell. Her E lets her land her entire Q. Her R gives her an escape and helps land her E.

And then there's foxfire, whose purpose is to be another instance of the damage from her ult. In the words of Gordon Ramsay, "It's Bland".

Adding a speed boost to Ahri's kit was a great idea, and made her feel a lot more agile.

It added spice, but Q already felt good. Her W needs that flavor much more than Q.

...I'd be okay with this, but on one condition: foxfires orbit the place the ability was used. Not for any practical or balance reason, just for the visual of an angry jungler trying to chase her, only to run into them one after another, getting progressively more annoyed, as that laugh she does when using it erodes their sanity. Make it a full-blown Singed-style deal. (...which would actually cement it as an escape ability, instead of push button for damage and I'm going to leave now because my joke is sounding reasonable)

That's awesome! Maybe even add a slow so they'd be like teemo's R, just not as powerful or hidden.

ExcessiveProtest3 votes

Thinking the same thing, but didn't want to be the one to say it; explicit buffs tend to go over less well. Weaker slow than the Shrooms, of course, and since they're visible and short-lived they don't take away from Teemo's trademark Teemoness too much like Rakan and Eve are doing, totally not bitter.

? the ms of q helps her to reposition so it is easier to hit the 2nd part of q dumb idea

Limrick9 votes

It's annoying though, it gives too much safety. Make it only give the MS if it connects with a champion, then we can talk about "it lets her land her second Q".

Bisaknosp5 votes

i would be glad if they would remove the ms entirely in exchange for damage

hers in comparison with other mages is fucking pathetic

and if you want to complain about champs that are annoying because muh safety Orianna here you go

IcyPepper3 votes

So if you wanted that sweet MS boost, you would have to pop W as well.

More mana, more casts for more reliability.

Bisaknosp3 votes

and more clunkiness

whats your point? why do people even think she is a problem atm? she already has mana problems try playing her and see for yourself xD most people who complain about ahri only think of 'hurdur safety always r w and me kill haz no cownter nurf' you clearly dont have any knowledge of this champ so please do every1 a favor and dont say anything :D

I always thought it was to run at people faster to AA them when you are out of range and they have 50 hp or are running away. I mean you get more MS throwing that thing the opposite direction you are running. I rarely need it running forward other than to go in slightly harder, but usually charm and ult take care of that.

Can't tell you how many people I've killed by throwing Q backwards because they were just outside of my Q range and running at them and landing the AA for around 50 damage or even just catching up to them letting me put out more damage later.

You're supposed to land your charm to maximize Q reliability.

On paper, the speed boost should function like that, but in practice, she only uses it to escape. Her Q double proc is primarily best used with charm. Next best way to double proc is near/at max range.

W makes more sense to get in range to prioritize champions before it hits minions.

Ahri doesn't need nerfs at the moment, but she functioned just fine before they tacked on her Q speed boost.

It's a good idea but she doesn't need nerfs atm.

IcyPepper1 votes

How would this be a nerf if we're just shifting things on her kit?

kile1472 votes

It would probably be a nerf simply because she wouldn't always have the movespeed to land both Q procs.

IcyPepper1 votes

... Nothing would stop her from popping W if she wants to land the second Q reliably, you know...

If I recall correctly, when the MS boost was added people bitched about it being tacked on.

If anything, it makes sense to give it to her W. Her W is boring, it's guaranteed damage but boring. Moving the MS boost onto it would make it her utility move, rather than her Q being a waveclear/poke/kiting spell.

kile1471 votes

All of that is absolutely true which is why this is a good change, but it would still probably be a net nerf overall. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing though since Ahri is pretty consistently popular and powerful.

50000000000000003 votes

I think the criticism with the new MS wasn't so much about the MS itself, but rather losing the burst (damage amplification) on her Charm.

ExcessiveProtest3 votes

Can confirm: players were mad because, as a compensation "buff" for losing DFG, the damage amp was being taken off Charm, losing an overall 44% damage amp due to the way they stacked. In exchange, Ahri got to go a bit faster when using Q, along with a couple minor changes. This was called a buff by Rito, players called it a nerf universally, a Red later admitted on here that it was meant as a nerf so they could gauge buff room for her new kiting playstyle. All these complaints were reasonable, considering she was losing a third of her single-target damage.

Then the nerf-by-another-name resulted in a 57% win rate, as not even the pros or Rito's balance team had realized how powerful outrunning skillshots was. So their "buff" turned into a buff, and the followup buffs turned into nerfs a month later when they confirmed that they were not drunk and the data was displaying properly (Really, they waited two patches because it made no sense to anyone). Two and a half years of slightly nerfing her whenever her name came up too much (I have a suspicion that the balance team is afraid of Ahri after 5.2), and you arrive at today.

IcyPepper1 votes

It was definitely part of it, though. Not gonna lie.

Kloqdq1 votes

The movement speed does not affect you landing both Q procs.

kile1471 votes

I realize her positioning does not impact the outgoing trajectory of the skillshot, and thus doesn't make landing that any easier. It definitely helps landing the return proc on your intended target though, thus making it more likely you will land both procs. My wording may have been confusing.

Kloqdq1 votes

Yeah I think I just misunderstood you.

I do think the movement speed on her Q is a problem for Ahri overall though. It is an incredibly powerful tool and I love it, but it really needs to go in the long term I think.

Daunt3 votes

It would make her use W more, leading to mana issues if she wants mobility. It's a cool concept of making her W more useful but i think that if that were to happen a lot more has to change. Atm i see Ahri's W as a filler ability to the rest of the kit. Sorta like some supports having minor heals in their kits that don't mean much but like they're still there.

EDIT: Also she's still one of those champions that actually have to manage their mana to succeed. A lot of other mages have a nicer time laning than her which is also the reason she's not really that good atm.

IcyPepper1 votes

I could see a decent reduction in her Q's mana cost to compensate, however.

Jofeyy4 votes

Foxfire is for when you cant land a single skillshot. Pretty defined purpose if you ask me...

This is a joke pls dont kill me :D

Linna Excel3 votes

I agree. Actually I brought this idea up back when ahri had a damage boost on her charm and no MS bonus as a way to shore up her identity.

Riot half listened to the idea.

Dark Nephthys3 votes

I could see that...maybe put the movement speed on her W and have the movement speed refresh everytime an orb hits a target. That could potentially be a little strong though but just an idea. Though I don't really feel she needs any changes, I've never had a problem with her as a balance issue all season at least, but I do agree that her W is kind of boring.

RocketRelm1 votes

Could be "every time it hits a champion".

Guiboulou1 votes

It would definitely be nice to have an extra effect when you hit someone with one of your W bolts as Ahri. To be honest, as of now, I pretty much only use it to help proc Thunderlord's or gain mana-cheap passive charges.

[sg-ahri-1]

Catastrop3 votes

This might actually allow her Q's cost to go down too, so I don't see why not.

Khristophoros2 votes

How about make her passive foxfire. They come up every X seconds and she can have 3 at a time. They only go for champions, so if you're passive you sit there with 3 of them being useless. Well I guess you might want to save them up and then trade. so IDK

Then make her W a speed boost (remove it from Q) which empowers her next attack or some shit idk.

As for her heal? Fuck her heal.

Salron18 votes

Sounds really gimmicky compared to her current kit

I don't like her current W but I dislike that even more

Torterra622 votes

well you if you miss your charm or dont have it you need that movement speed to bend your q back for the true damage. and you might say she should be able to land her charm or that her ult can help do that but you can't adjust abilities based on the potential of others

GrievousFetus2 votes

If you miss your charm you don't get to land the second half of your Q because you played incorrectly.

Torterra621 votes

you know whats your saying here is something but it really annoys me when people dont realize sometime you re not missing an ability the enemy is dodging it. there is such a difference and you can't base a skill off of how well it can be missed. so what if i launched my charm and the enemy flashes. i didnt miss my charm they dodged it. if an enemy is standing at point A heading to point B and i launch my charm to "point C" THEN I MISSED.

Terozu2 votes

No i like trolling in hide and seek by going Ahri and qing them while they chase me.

Ascension and Definitely not Dominion. The rules change slightly in Ascension because hiders have to suicide by Xerath to back. DnD is exactly the same with an extra wall in the way of the outer ring.
