I haven't seen anyone really talking about the Aram changes

But they look pretty great.

Here's the highlights (imo) for those that want them

Permanent changes:

  • Free champ pool includes the last three, so now it's usually 45 champions. Makes Aram accs significantly less effective and keeps the game more random for other low-champ accs.
  • Refilling a champion puts them on "the bench", allowing everyone to trade for them. I've never even seen this suggested, it's never occured to me, but this is a great, straightforward fix. I love it.
  • Champion mastery is returned to be more lenient. Awesome, it was ridiculous how hard it was to get a good score in Aram.

Event changes that could become permanent if they work:

  • Hp packs scale off missing hp/Mana and create a team-agnostic redemption effect that can heal EVERYONE. I think this is really interesting, possibly fun, and a great thing to try out during the event.
  • Three new items for melee champs.

There are a few more changes (that didn't especially excite me) but these look to all make playing Aram more fun. The only other thing I want is higher dodge penalties.

I'm personally a bit concerned about the Champ Mastery changes. Although it'll be nice to have more reasonable post-match grades, it's weird that Mastery 6/7 are still arbitrarily limited to classic SR. Additionally, the fact that you can't earn Hextech chests on champs you don't own combined with the increased free rotation could be more annoying for new players or people who haven't yet expanded their champ roster. For instance, the "Congratulations on earning an S! Have a Hex-whoops, nevermind. You don't own this champ!" situation.

High MMR is gonna be weird for a bit while ARAM accounts tank.

btw I actually suggested the bench. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/nAbe0jE0-aram-should-have-a-discard-pool

I HATE that they took out warmogs.

Long ranged ad spellcasters and ADCs can make use of minion waves and deaths dance to batery charge themselves.

Now tanks and bruisers that dont have any significant sustain mechanics will have no feasible options to try and sustain back from any stray poke they take. And because it's aram, there is always A LOT of stray poke...

Yeah I'm really excited. Not a big fan of warmog's removal, tanks all ready have a hard time, but I'll wait and see. The health shrine fights are gonna be crazy.

I am looking forward to playing ARAM again on my main account, not an ARAM account. These are some good quality of life changes too.

The new changes should stastically blunt the effectiveness of any ARAM account. There might still be a slight advantage, but probably not enough to be concerned about.

Tanks are actually far superior to poke mages in the mid to late game of ARAM because of snowball. Once they get items they start steamrolling over your team with engage and CC while your mages have no decent answer against the stacked MR.

Theres no real ''good and bad'' champ in aram theres only knowledge and performance. Ive seen people use clever setups and 1v9 on champs that are not supposed to perform at all... and also comp who cant really play those amazing poke champs well and/or dont adapt and itemise properly. Theres faceroll champs for sure but a main with 1m mastery who get his main might stomp any team! I like that random factor in aram and well, i cant wait for those changes!
