Shyvana Buff is Lazy and Doesn't Sovle Any of Her Problems

This seems to be a lazy buff. To me it seems like Riot finally heard enough complaints about how people utterly hate Shyvana's awful passive so they just decided, "fine we will buff her." But this is not what players want or what Shyvana needs.

Shyvana's stupid gimmicky passive really is bad. I'm talking about the armor and magic resist gained from killing dragons. That part is just a stupid gimmick added seemingly without reason to her kit. If by some act of a higher being Shyvana can manage to get all the dragons up until just over 30 minutes without delay she can earn a total of 30 armor and 30 magic resist. That's great and all, but if this is the case then there is almost a 95% chance that the team Shyvana is on already has the game sealed up, so it was meaningless and any less is pretty negligible.

Riot needs to scrap this part of her passive and give Shyvana power where she desperately needs it. Shyvana has insanely long cooldowns early game, and could really use a buff on those, or she could use a way to CC her targets. Also she does not need to kill dragons faster. She already kills them quickly and she would receive little to no benefit from this.

So Riot should not just insert this idea that took them 5 minutes to think of and actually look into what huge problems Shyvana has right now and try to fix that.

I was so excited when I saw they were looking to buff Shyvana... I'm still waiting to see the actual buff.

Seriously though, Shyvana already takes dragons fast enough, her ability to take objectives have never been in question. The issue is her ability to effect fights. She has no CC, so she needs to do damage, but outside of her ult & her minor W MS, she has no ability to get to critical targets.

She needs a buff that helps her in fights.

I agree completely. It's almost like Wukong's passive in a sense. "Here's a flat amount of Armor/Magic resist for this conditional that has realistically no impact on how you play this champion."

Edit: No Shyvana is going to say "Let's do this dragon because I need 4 more Armor and MR." They're going to take dragon because they need dragon. Same for Wukong. No Wukong is going to say "I am going in 1v5 because of the additional 20-30 resistances I get." They're going to go in for a team wide knockup, and stealth out.

Her passive is utter garbage and inferior version of Garen's W passive. 40 armor and magic ressidt, for killing minions and champions. More stats, for less work. That's stupid.

Yeah, I got the opportunity to talk to Meddler the day 9.2 was announced he stated that scaling with elder will be added

Meddler (NA) I'll follow up on scaling off Elder Dragons taken, hadn't realized that wasn't already in, not immediately seeing any reason it shouldn't be regardless of what else we do.

While Shyvana has many problems the elder addition removes one big one in that Shyvana like all other objective scaling champions (rengar/kindred) now has infinite opportunities to get her passive.

However, with the jungle nerfs again, it's extremely unfair to leave Shyvana in this state.

She needs some QOL buffs. Scale with elder Gain fury while dead. Decay on her W

There a many iterations of the passive I've heard and thought of. Harder Scaling/Buffing her team with it/ having the dragons in a set order and getting a special buff. Etc.

Her Passive and lack luster ult need big changes.

Riot stealth nerfed Shyvana into the bottom of F tier though. Now Q does reduced damage to structures (starting at 50% at rank 1 and scaling up to 100% with Q rank) which actually kills the ability for her to push with the AP build which is meta for her right now (where max order is EWQ).

I feel a lazy, yet easy fix for our favourite half dragon would be this:

For every dragon shyvana or her team take she gains 10% cool down reduction.

Having cool down on her would make the champions biggest weekness a solvable part of her kit & make taking dragons an actual benefit as 10% cdr is considerable.

If you really wanted to Buff her, they could make you R have an additional affect whist already in dragon form. Or to be able to be recast on a take down so she can use it to fly to enemy's multiple times in one fight.

So, here's what I think. Her passive needs a buff more then anything I think we all can agree on that. So here's my ideas

Deal 40% more damage to dragons. This should make it much more noticeable

For every dragon she kills, she gets 15 armor and magic resist. As well as 10 AP per dragon kill. In addition she gains 50 HP. And gets 5% CDR, as well as deal damage over time while in dragon form. Scaling based on how many dragons killed for 3 seconds. This increases based off of 20% ability power or attack power. Whichever is higher 15/30/45/60/75/90/105.... For each Elder dragon killed, increase her armor and magic resist by 20

I dont want Shyvana to be buffed. I like her passive because I enjoy taking objectives and farming, then scaling late game. I dont want her to be tier 2 because then I will have to deal with people banning Shyvana. Leave my champion alone Riot. 😢

However, luckily they're planning to add an extra 10% damage to dragon dealing damage, so they are looking at ways to increase the impact of Shyvana's passive. That is the part that WILL influence how people play Shyvana. From "We can't take this Dragon" to "We can take this dragon".

A couple good buffs to Shyvana without increasing her damage would be adding Tenacity to either her ult or Burnout (or even just Dragon Form Burnout), and increasing her passive’s base amount from 5 to 10 of armor and MR. Just some more tools to help her do more early in the game.
