Any updates of solutions for leavers?

Admittedly I am writing this out of frustration more than anything, but I was wondering if there was anything in the works to deal with players leaving the game. I just got out of a ranked match that 4v5 the entire game. Our 5th player literally did not ever connect. What was most frustrating was that we were totally outplaying the other team, we won a few teamfights, got a baron, got a couple of dragons, but we just could not deal with their pushing power. For a while it looked like we were going to win, but when they won a teamfight they proceeded to destroy our base in a way that we just couldn't do with only 4 players when we won teamfights. And it's not just that we lost that is frustrating, it's the fact that it is going to factor into my placement and my MMR just like a normal 5v5 loss would, despite going positive and actually ending up with more team kills than the other team. This has been a problem for years (I've played since the end of Season 1), and yet very little has been done about it.

edit: aaand just happened again. This is really kind of ruining my placements...
