Where did Taric go?
I saw so many people playing him for a while after his rework but now it seems like nobody is playing him. Besides his heal feeling kinda weak he seems really strong. Is his win rate bad?

Hes unreliable. Why choose taric in the prevelence of armor shred anyway?
His win rate is ok, but his play-making potential is really low even in support standards. His rework made him fair, too fair Imo, in world full of unfair champions :D. They removed his burst, auras, armor shred, most of armor scaling, changed him form gem paladin to "star cleric/demigod". All in all he is just boring stun bot... and my main because i cant find new one after old taric was reworked :(
Anything that required heavy coordination and teamwork are apparently considered "garbage" to the eyes of many players, and are therefore underplayed.

but kalista is garbage. her mains can't win with her.

Last two times I played with a Kalista, we ended up carrying botlane so hard. Once was with a premade, the other time was with a random player.
Maybe this sample size is too small and that Kalista is a bit clunky to play, but she's a lot like Lulu and Taric you just need a good deal of coordination and actual thought when playing.
people jump on and off the bandwagon.
hes strong. but more in coordinated enviroment. most of the time people waste his ult. engage or disengage at wrong times
I think he's a poor support, but a good jungle and a decent top as a Taric Main. His mana costs are far too high though for the little he gets out of it.
Do you go cinderhulk or runic echoes? I saw a really good taric with Bloodrazor once lol. Then just full tank or what?

It depends on what I'm fighting. If they have a few frontliners like Sion, Udyr, etc, I run Bloodrazor. You pump out higher DPS and generally Iceborn is good with it for sticking to melees. If its something like heavy AP, I go cinderhulk, spirit visage and triforce.
You have to remember, his early clear is super super fast. Finish blue and toad, smash wolves with bravado spam and run top for an early gank. Basically you line yourself up, cast e to get it going and flash onto them right before it snaps. Kill every time.
Rushing full armor on Taric is somewhat meh because of the shred these days. I'd say bruiser items like BC, and Phantom dancer are surprisingly effective too. You can't duel tanky Taric with a 12% damage reduction from phantom and more reductions from tabi. He just overwhelms you with bravado strikes.
Just know that you are generally slow. Plant yourself before a high priority target and smack the shit out of the enemies that try to ignore you.
His early mana costs are alleviated by jungles items and blue, whereas his support is weakest and top only marginally better. Mana regen items are very lackluster on him as well as AP. His ratios are very blah.
Thanks for the reply I'll definitely try tha Taric jg again

NP, look up my Taric fighter masteries and I use my Taric support runes in the jungle for a reference on op.gg.
i guess people are disappointed because they took alot of its offense and he became full defensive utility, reminds me of a melee tanky version of Janna

That's a huge misconception. His DPS is way higher. He just isn't as bursty. Bravado absolutely wrecks people with fervor of battle and sheen.
Yes, his passive just got slightly stronger in terms of DPS, but he lost 2 damage abilities at the same time, which practically lowers his dps and left him with no burst whatsoever, also we are talking about support champ and fervor of battle on Taric sounds just wrong, even if you play top or whatever, id rather pick Grasp.

Grasp is terrible in general. He doesn't need the sustain and the damage from grasp doesn't even come close to what fervor does. He loses a tiny bit of situational resists from the defense tree as opposed to % pen which will always be more useful to a champ that stacks resists easily already. I mean you can continue using grasp because its the "tank" mastery according to riot. Mathematically, fervor is superior on a great deal of champs that it shouldnt be. Its overtuned.
His passive didn't get a little stronger. It got a lot stronger. I've been playing Taric a long time and I can tell you right now, he's way more useful then he used to be. You pretty much had w then r. Did you kill them? No? Well thats all for your damage.
Now, he's got that amazing CDR effect on bravado which with 40% CDR makes you pump out stuns like crazy. He's a garbage support, but a fantastic tank/fighter. But whatever. He will always have a stigma as an only support and that's fine by me. I like being underestimated and first blooding people before they know to not get smacked.

I dont say he is less or more useful than he used to be, i only argue he lost alot of his offensive power.

He didn't though. He gained lot of offensive power. You only think if his old one and done burst. He has VASTLY better output with bravado and 3 second cooldowns. Hell, his stun is up constantly as long as you are using Bravado. If you're playing Taric and not constantly autoing, you're doing it wrong. Mathematically, to say he's lost damage simply isn't true.
but the old passive also reduced his abilities cooldowns, so even back then when you stick to your target you was practically spamming spells

It only reduced his much longer cds by 2 seconds with worse damage. Total damage death was 20% of his bonus armor. His new passive deals Innate: After casting an ability, Taric's next two basic attacks within 4 seconds each gain 100% total attack speed, deal 22 - 90 (based on level) (+ 15% bonus armor) bonus magic damage and reduce the cooldowns of his basic abilities by 1 - 0.55 (based on Cooldown Reduction) seconds, increased to 6 - 3.3 (based on Cooldown Reduction) seconds for Starlight's Touch's recharge time.
Its straight up stronger. It gives him amazing synergy with Fervor, Black Cleaver, IBG and Titanic Hydra.
Now you make me check on lolwiki and the cds are nowhere near longer. Old cds are 14/10/14/75 respectively, at max rank, where first and 3rd spells are 18s on first rank. The new cds are 15/15/15/100, ult is 160 at first rank. With the new passive you also need to hit twice to take full benefit, which takes longer and you cant expect to have the comfort to do that. And again you bring up additional items which are away of his role. The topic was why Taric is not seen recently and not why ppl dont play top taric or whatever other role

The conversation was if his damage has improved since his rework and I say it has. He has more flexible item choices, a stronger dueling kit, slightly lower burst. The fact that he can do damage in AP opposition games alone helps. Nothing like old Taric having to stack 400 armor into AP enemies because his passive does nothing otherwise. Now he's got a base damage and fervor.
I had stated that his support role is very weak because the item choices he has are poor. % increase to his very low shield and heals isn't worth the gold. AP isn't worth it on him, because he needs durability and lots of it this season. Tanks are expected to do damage as well, which he can't do with forbidden idol items.
People got better at dodging his stun I think.
So he probably off looking for his targeted stun :P
Yeah he does have one of the more avoidable stuns in a sense
Everytime I start a stun I think " SHOOPDAWOOP CHARGIN MA LASER BWUAAAAAA" :P. Its just so heavily telegraphed that it fails to do its intended job of stunning someone going after my linked partner.
It's like Alistar and Bard were fused together, Short ranged, Hard, and needs teamwork which is really hard to do in every elo except diamond-challenger.
