Ashe with infinity edge.

Jens DV cleared it up for me, no need to try to explain anymore.

I was curious so I tested it. I had my ap runes and masteries on to make sure it was a clean environment, and I purchased an IE on ashe. What I found is that it does not apply.

160 AD I hit minions (0 armor) for 164 (I think that extra 4 damage came from the 6% armor pen on my masteries?) The crit damage on the same minions was 231. The passive said it would multiply by 140% 164 * 1.4 = 229 (about 231)

I was told that it would also add the extra 50% damage from the IE somehow, but I only got the crit chance bonus. If anyone knows why it's doing that, or if that actually is the intended result please let me know. Side note, why isn't there a Volcanic Ashe skin? I want to blow up my enemies with the force of Yellowstone national park.

But the extra IE crit multiplication already got added.

The base crit is 110%, and the crit % from IE is 20%, so in total that would give you 130% increased damage on attacks. However, you did 110% + (20*1.5)% = 110% + 30% = 140% increased damage

Ahh thank you. I was curious about that. It's weird it gets applied that way though.

why weird? that's exactly the same way it get's applied on any other crit.

I've always thought crit damage was additive, not multiplicative. Edit: Wiki says it's additive.

it's additive to itself, not to the crit chance.

You...do understand how crits normally work, right?

Each % of crit chance theoretically increases your DPS by that amount. Make 10 attacks with 20% crit chance, 2 are crits for 100% bonus damage, which is a total damage increase over those 10 attacks by 20%. IE's bonus damage increases that by 50%. Not to a bonus damage of 70% of course, but he increases the damage multiplier by half, to 30%.

Ashe does literally the exact same thing, she just cuts out the middleman of RNG.

Normally crit damage is additive, so the formula to reach that result is different. I wasn't questioning the concept of critting, just the way it was being calculated on ashe's passive.

He's saying only the crit chance from IE is increasing Ashe damage, but not the IE passive (50% bonus damage)?? If this is true then IE is not a core item on Ashe I suspect. This mean Ashe's optimal build path might be a bit different from other carries, considering she still wants crit.

Also the extra damage is probably coming from the Havoc mastery (3% more dmg; 21 offense)

Nvm...

The first comment corrected me, it does add that extra damage, but not the normal way. It multiplies it by the crit chance you have, then adds that value on to the base crit chance you have. The IE alone gives 30%=(20% +(20% * .5))

You probably still had the Butcher and Arcane blade masteries for AP which gave you that 4 extra damage

Havoc yes, butcher no. Thanks
