Varus main reporting in. Varus is strong, but to do insane burst with him you do need to take advantage of his blight stacks. I usually do a REQ Combo since they're insta-slowed after they're rooted, and by the time my Q is fully charged I'll chunk them down to near low health or outright kill them. His Q benefits mainly from armour pen items since a direct hit with two strong items like & will rip through enemies like sliced butter, and that's without blight stacks. is also a fantastic item to have on him, since it shatters most enemies and gives great AP resist if you take it in mid since it gives you a second chance if you get bursted by someone like or

However Varus is not a true ADC. He's an AD Caster Hybrid, which is why people can play both AD and AP with him. Going vs DPS machines like , , & he'll be creamed. Versus other Caster Marksmen like Cait and Lucian, he can duel and trade pretty well, but would lose out to Caitlyn's AA range unless you play very aggressively with him.

However if he gains the early-game advantage and gets items early, he'll dominate from the early to late mid phases. His scaling is meh in late game, so to counter that I've been theorycrafting a build with him atm, is fucking fantastic for him in late game since it gives him a decent more chance of sustain in late game. He's generally picked in mid because his poke is devastating in early game when his Piercing Arrow gets it's third point.

Alot of people also underestimate Varus, since he's not popular by any means at all, and it gives him great tendency to be unpredictable for someone going against him for the first time. He's quite powerful when his immobility has been dealt with, I usually run , & since they give me plenty of mobility. I'll usually run two MS items at most since if I want to have a little bit of DPS and huge chunk power I do have sacrifice a little bit, but that's where Elixir of Iron comes in because of the added tenacity.

He's strong, and don't let people saying Urgot is stronger. Urgot IS strong in his own means, but he isn't shit if you know how to counterplay him, just like any other champion when it comes down to skill level. Focus on their weaknesses, and punish them when they reveal themselves. And if you do decide to play Varus, hope you go versus someone who mains him. You'll learn the best way to play champs from someone who mains them well.
