Hextech Crafting Discussion

2016 Season Update

When Hextech Crafting was first revealed in the S6 reveal, I was incredibly hyped for it. The idea of turning my dedication to this game into free skins and stuff sounded amazing.

I've looked at the updated page for it, and I'm kinda underwhelmed. 4 chests a month is VERY limited. Unless I'm missing something here, it is not very freeing. Even worse, 1 CHEST PER CHAMP PER SEASON. WHAT. So if you're a one-trick pony with no friends, you get 1 chest per season...

While I"m not a one-trick pony and I do have friends, this feels incredibly stifling. I want to be able to play a lot of Rek'Sai without feeling punished for not being varied. It's gonna feel bad because I consistently get S ranks with her (I'm up to 50+ S or S+ ranks), and I'm not getting anything for it.

I'm no trying to sound entitled with this, and i do appreciate the opportunities for free stuff, but this feels like I'm having it dangled in front of me, rather than being given opportunities for new shiny hype things.

What do you guys think about this? Am I stupid or wrong or just missed something? Let's get some discussion going, let's see if we can get some Rioter Input here.

they could just limit this to a certain amount of chests per month in general instead of 1 per champ per season.

dont quite understand what the reasoning behind this limit per champion is.

im not a 1 trick pony, but lets say i have a pool of 8 champions i focus on. id have this maxed out in 2 month. and the other couple of month... nothing?

Exactly. You need to play 48 champions effectively to max this out. This is so dumb.

I would rather go with 1 per season per champion , with no limits per month.

I am a one trick pony and I have no idea what this hextech crafting is supposed to do. I sort of understand that it gives free stuff but like what? I have all available skins for the champion I play and I play other champions very rarely with friends and usually just troll around in 5 man premades normal games.

is it retroactive? i mean, if you have have mastered 5 champions during s5, will you start s6 with 5 of these things?

right, i forgot. this is tied to champion mastery. though they could just tie the chests to a certain amount of mastery points for a champion, instead of reaching rank 5 on a champion.

every x mastery points on a champion you unlock a chest. up to 4 per month.

how many total is it to reach rank 5? they could use multiples of that.

so no matter if you really focus on on like 1 or 2 champions, or 15, youd get the same rewards.

It's tied to your mastery rankings at the end of a match, and is NOT retroactive.

Sounds like fun to me, honestly.

In general, I like a collection aspect to games, but I'm lazy. I the kind of person that doesn't want to go trading with some random person to get all 150 Pokemon... or even scour every patch of grass. I see Hextech Crafting as a way to get free stuff for my collection while doing what I'm already doing (playing the game).

I know right. To this day I have never owned an Alakazam, Gengar or Kingdra.
