It seems as they continue to pervert and ruin the game this season, they do so out of some bonkers idea that making more money, getting more players NOW in the short run equals success.

Well, it might work in the short term. But in the long run, maybe withing a few years, Leagues player base will do what World of Warcraft did---drop steeply.
