Not a Single Mod

It's been a few days now since the Veigar changes have had the forums in an uproar, and not a single Riot employee has tuned in to provide us with any context as to why our favorite little master of evil is getting squashed by the nerf bat. Could you please let us know what's going on? As a helpful reminder I will list off a few of the main concerns we on the GD have with this change so they are all present.

The Q being a skillshot. This change is actually on the fence, we cannot come to a consensus of whether the Q changes are good or bad, because of the ability to multi-stack with one Q. The downside is it makes it a bit harder to harass in lane as champions can now dodge it. Which in my opinion is an acceptable tradeoff.

His ult ratio. This one has us a little upset. Now, on top of no longer having access to DFG, he is losing quite a bit of power off of his ultimate. We read what you said in the notes about the Veigars on the PBE blowing up people a little too early in the game, however, later in the game this could pose a problem to his efficacy because more people will have built magic resist by that point, lowering the damage even further. In essence, this is a bigger nerf than it first appears because Veigar cannot reliably blow up the squishies on the back line, meaning quite often he will have to settle for blowing up the frontline tanks. When they have MR he is already at a disadvantage, the removal of DFG meant that there was less of a chance of the tanks dying or even being dealt huge chunks of damage already, but now losing part of his ratio makes that chance rather obsolete.

The third and final change is the one we are least happy about. Veigar's entire kit revolved around hitting that stun on the enemy, especially now in the midst of the high mobility meta where 50% of all champions have a large dash or blink. Now, with the delay on the stun, he will have very little chance of landing it on.... well, anyone really. This will make his burst combo almost ineffectual in the early game, as 100-0ing someone early requires his dark matter to hit. So even if you land your 2 other skills and ignite should you have decided to bring it, there's a high probability the enemy will survive and flash to safety. But that isn't even the worst part: Veigar's escaping tool from ganks is now gone. On top of being immobile and squishy, now he has no way to escape from a gank situation besides flashing. meaning the second time the jungler comes around, Veigar is pretty much guaranteed to die. Also, even if we take the junglers out of the picture and just focus on his counters like , his only reliably way to "outplay" these champions is to land his stun directly on top of them and burst them down before they can do anything. Which he will no longer be able to do giving them a much easier time bullying him out of lane all game.

All in all, there is no part of this change that any Veigar players like, and even those who don't play Veigar know this is a pretty heavy nerf to an already somewhat unviable champion. So we ask you Riot, even if you don't heed our advice, will you at least acknowledge our opinion and tell us WHY you are going through with these changes? Please?

PBE Veigar can work, just not in his current state (he really only needs 2 changes though)

1.) An increase to the amount of AP gained per unit kill on his Q (raise it to 2 per kill rather than 1), even with perfect CS; your late game damage would only just barely return to DFG levels of burst, and that is again; assuming you're last hitting 2 minions with Q, every single time its off cooldown, given that most people (if anyone really) don't have perfect CS, thats an unrealistically high standard they'd be setting.

2.) Some form of reliability to his stun, either by decreasing the delay before the walls appear; adding an AoE slow inside the walls of the cage, just something to help him land his W.

W and ult would be fine as is provided these two changes happened.

Yeah, if his Q gave more AP his ult change would be less of an issue, but as it is, it's a pretty serious nerf on top of the DFG removal.
