The air leaking out at any given moment of a space shuttle that has a microfracture in it is a tiny fraction of the total air in the shuttle, but given enough time any percentage of the air will have left.
1% of the player base will always be ranked higher than the other 99%-- whether there are 10,000 players or 10,000,000 players is irrelevant. Dynamic queue offers a poor experience for the top 1%, and if some of them leave, their positions will be filled in by the people beneath them. But then some of those people may also find the experience lackluster and leave, continuously draining the game of talent.
Right now its just a pin prick in a balloon. Nothing to be super alarmed about, the air is leaving very slowly. The thing to be really alarmed about is the long term behavior of the system-- dynamic queue can't function properly without a large active player base, and if this leak is allowed to exist indefinitely then the player base will shrink until dynamic queue fails to function.
Its as if the balloon is under water, and the air pressure in the balloon is continuously decreasing because of the leak. The pressure is decreasing slowly, but once it reaches a critical value the balloon will implode.
