Junglers, you need to learn what a TOP LANER is!!!!! (for those looking to really climb)

(My Rank means nothing in this post. I constantly observe and watch pro players or high elo players and I have discussed this with friends of mine who got me into the game who are either current or former Master/Diamond players who agree with my believes with the current pace of the game.)

Let me give you a quick run down on what is going on in top lane, because we all know that the balance team says that they "evaluate" the role, when in reality it's just a spit in the face from them and most Junglers could care less what the lane is. No, this is not some Hashinshin rant where i'm going to say ADC's are petty babies and mid laners are greedy scums. I love my mid laner's and bot lane can most def expect me to Sion or Shen ult down to them because I love me a fed ADC. But junglers......oh....oh boy you need to hear me out.

Top lane, and i can't stress this enough, IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LANE TO HAVE CONTROL IN!!! Here is why. Yes you can gank your adc a thousand times and make it too the point where the enemy adc isnt even worth 100g, but thats actually not even worth. Because now you have to try and work your way to killing the tank/bruiser that you left unattended, who now has his or her resistances built up (god forbid they somehow have a kill lead) and the enemy ADC just has to farm for a bit to catch up. You want to actually look to play around the top side of the map early into the game because there is so much utility up there that you can force the enemy team to waste. This doesn't mean gank only once and this doesn't mean camp. It just means you need to give the same amount of attention as you do to any other lane. Most top laner's are standstill no dash sacks of beef. Current leading top lanes like Urgot, Sion, Aatrox, Shen, Ornn, Poopy are all very vulnerable to early ganks. If you gank a top laner pre lvl2, like right after you get a buff. You can most of the time force out a flash, or get a kill and force them to tp, or both. After doing so, and providing your laner with a fresh ward so they can save theirs for the first slot, you will be shocked by how much control on the map you will get from repeating this a few times. Doing this will force one of 3 things, the enemy jungler will feel impelled to gank once or twice with hopes to secure the control back, the enemy top lane will never be able to catch up and you can repeat gank (unless they some sort of god), or your top laner will just have so much of a lead that they can 2v1 and hold their own which most top laners in the current and what looks like future meta can do so. You also get the freedom to invade and control the rift herald when it spawns. Almost all top laners are ready for a brawl in the jungle so with the importance of scuttle crab, having a top lane in control is so helpful when you want help to secure a quick 2v1 kill in the river. This varies, but it is happening more often now and having your laner able to get there first will really make an impact. This also makes the swap so much more worth it. You shouldn't spend all your time top, just enough time. You're gonna gank bot because....well why wouldn't you? Always get your adc something. But if you win that gank and finish off the tower, then swaping the lanes will put your team at such a high advantage. Top doesn't care about getting a turret. It's nice to, but we are here to fight and be that cc train up front. Not sit around hitting minions for 5 minutes.

I know a fair amount of you are thinking, 'this guy has no clue what he is talking about." Well thats because i can bet you don't play top lane, and you don't want to. But doing this for your top laner will make their life, your life and the teams life so much better.

Hehe you sure this wasn't a Hashinshin inspired rant? Top lane is not the most important lane, also 4 of the 6 "vulnerable" Champion's you listed have hard cc/dashes/escapes early. Midlane is and will always be the lane of most importance, a midlaner can apply pressure for bot and top lane and can help jungle from being invaded or invading. There is no jungle objective in top lane until after 10mim and most people wait to rift until at least 15 anyways. Camping top means losing the dragon depending on the enemy jungler pick. The best lane to camp and gank is the one with vision and the one in a good position, usually a shoved in lane. If you say top is always a standstill in the middle of lane then you don't know how to control the waves, I'll gank you if the enemy is overextended.

Mid IS by faaar the most important lane to gank because they can easily extend a lead to both lanes AND both lanes can push midlanes lead even more.

Top is important but much more of an island that exists in a state of flux. Your Top can easily win lane and not be able to translate that into a win. As a jungler AND a top lane player I have seen to many games where I have fed the top 3+ kills and an early tower and it does little to effect the game if bot or mid isn't doing well.

I do agree with ganking top early to give momentum. I then monitor my top and see how they use that lead. If I determine that the lead is being used effectively I am willing to come top more. Even if you don't think they will use the lead well they already have it. So now I feel safe leaving top alone to help the other lanes.

Seconded. Mid lane has most roaming potential and vision. A victorious mid lane can help any other lane that’s fallen behind much more easily.

Would I rather gank top, who is a tank and will still do his job regardless of how fed he is or isnt, or gank bot/mid where the difference is my backliners being able to do their job

Most top laners are self sufficient and the only ones who need jungle attention are bad ones

Junglers gank the lanes that will lead them to winning the game, sometimes this is top, but what can a jungler actually get from top lane being ahead:

Top lane advantage: this puts pressure on the enemy jungler to gank top, sets them behind

TP advantage: to help control bot side/dragon

Rift herald control

Destroying top tower: economy boost

Ganking mid-

Mid advantage, makes it hard to enemy mid to roam and impact the map

Mid priority- allows you to coordinate dives bot/top and invade enemy jungle, also opens up dragon/rift herald

Mid tower- opens up the map, to gain control of enemy jungle quadrants

Ganking bot-

More potential gold- 2 players to kill

Bot advantage- gives you dragon control and advantage towards fights moving forwards, an advantage that will outacale top laners resistances anyways

Bot towers- boosts teams objective strength, makes taking baron easier

-fed ad carry makes sieging/neutral objective contension easier

Ganking top is the least advantageous lane to gank, the champions who go top are ussually the hardest to successfully gank past the early levels and if I'm ganking top while the enemy jungler is crushing bot/mid were probably gonna lose

The only times I think ganking/camping top is the optimal play is when the enemy top is a early game carry like jayce who you can make useless and make them game a 4v5

Top lane is literally the only lane that can lose and make a comeback on their own, so it isn't the most important role.

They aren't required to roam either.

I used to play top lane and I miss the isolation at times.

The only reason to gank top lane is if the opportunity presents itself (i.e. an over extended lane). Even providing counter pressure for a top laner is iffy unless 3 or more go top, which rarely happens. The other lanes can't come back as easily if they lose lane. A bot lane that got trampled on is a huge problem for everyone in the game and threatens to consume the whole match. That's why mid is typically ganked the most, so they can roam for the infamous 4 man bot and take dragon.

what the other poeple said.. and also

if i gank mid they can easily help top or bot... if i gank bot i can get a kill on 1 OR two players AND a top or mid can easily transition into dragon

top lane would have to be very pushed up for me to gank, it doesn't give my any priority. ( most champs jungler can solo rift with assistance)

top lane also generally has the most tanky champs so its alots a lot harder to kill them. and takes longer

if mid gets ahead they can not only help me in any part of my jungler if i get invaded they can trasition to baron or drag or help me gank any lane

if bot lane gets ahead we have a fed carry and that transitions to free dragons or a free win.

if top lane egts ahead.. they still need to use a summoner summoner 12 to even help other lanes really.

i mean sure

if your playing Irelia IM GANNA FUCKING MAKE SURE U GET FED.. because she is literally broken as fuck.

if your playing Nasus im going to help you out

but most other top laners.. a few kills wont make much of a difference either way
