Support items using the new Jungle model would really mix things up bot lane.

What if you separated the stats from the gameplay effects of the support items and used enchants on them ala the new jungle stuff? For example, someone can buy the frostfang line because they are pokey, and then enchant it to be a defensive item with HP/cdr or something instead of mana regen/AP. This could really open up the support slot to be able to really help fill what the team may be lacking elsewhere.

I think that sort of system would work better for a single, much more universal support item.

Aka Sightstone. There really should be more/better Sightstone upgrades than just +400 health and one more ward carried around.

I'm mostly thinking of the diversity it could add. Tons of new supports would be at least usable, and that would really help make the position more attractive(which it kinda needs).

Agreed on sightstone, I feel like they definitely need to make that item not so much of a liability to have in your build endgame.

Yeah i pretty much think that would fit much more on the sightstone, since all supports need it, but it's only upgrade so far is ruby sightstone..

The sightstone should definately be more like the jungling items. The base sightstone should probably remain unchanged, but there should be at least one (and preferably two) additional levels of upgrades, with upgrade paths the provide useful stats and/or auras depending on support type. As it is now, a maxed out sightstone is like an ADC only being able to fill one slot with just a pick-axe.

I'm not saying that the sightsone upgrade should pack the same stats wallop as something like an IE or Deathcap, but having some additional stats or auras would definitely benefit supports and their teams, especially later in the game.

The main danger with sightstone upgrades that don't suck is that junglers or top laners pick them up and cause a vision explosion. Riot is probably keeping sightstone super slot inefficient to guard against this.

That said, something more inspiring than just +health would certainly be welcome.

Really don't see how that's a problem. Promotes good player qualities. Not to mention the jungler's new tool to clear out vision.

Vision is extremely snowbally. If there is no fog of war, the ahead team just wins.

You could always make them still weak in comparison to regular items, just something more useful than the hp

I do like the idea of making the support item buy determine your gold mechanic, and then giving enchants to get the stats and active you want. Not sure how broken this would end up being, but in principle it sounds cool.
