[Quality of Life Improvement] Anivia's R - Glacial Storm: Queue up Deactivation

There is a short cooldown between activating (R) - Glacial Storm and being able to deactivate it. What I want to be able to do is press (R) again before that short timer is up so that it automatically deactivates when ready (with a small safe zone so that double tapping doesn't accidentally queue it up for deactivation).

Why would you do this and where does this stupid idea come from? Well, let me tell you;

Anivia players know this well, but her (Q) - Flash Frost is quite slow, so if you want to immediately apply Frost to a target in order for your (E) - Frostbite to "crit" you just drop your Ult on them because it is immediate and quite hard to miss. You don't even care if it deals any damage, you just want the slow debuff on them for a split second. In the event of this you will want to deactivate your Ult as soon as possible so it doesn't start wasting mana, but you have to wait for the cooldown.

I got this idea from Gragas's Q and Lux's E; you can queue them up to explode before they reach their destination. I feel this would be similar, because instead of waiting for travel time you're waiting for cooldown time.

Makes sense. This change would let Anivia easily make minimum-duration ults, shaving off mana-cost ticks.

In fights as well, pressing R for the cancel (most likely weaving it between other spells and actions) and not noticing that it was too early could mean you don't have the ultimate when you need it a moment later.

The solution shouldn't really be to mash R all the time. The game agrees, judging by the Lux and Gragas spells you mentioned. I think your suggestion is pretty reasonable.

But if we don't consider mashing spells as they come off cooldown that valuable as a mechanical skill, what if summoner spells also queued up if you tried to use them in the last second or split second of their cooldowns? Or what if every ability could do that? An interesting idea at least.
