These Badges do Nothing But Encourage the Solo Queue Elitists...
To hate on anyone who doesn't play solo (If you don't believe me scroll through some of the comments on Redmercy's video). They will not stop the demand for a true solo queue. So what is the solution? Well first we need to look at the facts.
If you just want to read what the solution is scroll down to option three.
Facts
- There is a large demand for a true solo queue. If doubtful refer to the boards and the uproar on Reddit.
- There is a large demand for a dynamic queue. This may seem shocking but in Riot's first post about Dynamic Queue they said, "In every research survey, the majority of players wanted to try Ranked, but also wanted to play with friends and did not have enough friends always online to play Ranked Teams." http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/GD/JNwgrzih-qa-about-dynamic-queues-and-new-champ-select
There is a demand for ranked 5v5.Already fixed.- High elo queue times and match quality has been adversely affected but it's unknown to me whether this is due to a lack of supports or the dynamic queue (In my personal opinion it's likely a combination of the two)
- Some players are using Dynamic Queue to get boosted. However I would like to note that not every dynamic queue player is boosted, contrary to what the community believes.
- There are problems with four man premades.
- Old solo queue was not perfect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNVz-C0-qLY
- Dynamic queue does not prevent solo players from climbing.
Option 1, Just Pure Solo Queue
In essence get rid of Dynamic Queue... Which although I am sure that is what many would like it is not really an option. For the following reasons.
- League is a team game and solo queue doesn't reflect that.
- You isolate those who want to play with others competitively but can't consistently get a team of five together.
- Toxicity would drastically increase.
Option 2, Copy DOTA

Now just hear me out before you rip me in (DOTA) two. In DOTA there are three ranked MMRs, Solo MMR, Party MMR and Team MMR (5v5). What happens is if you queue up solo you're competing for Solo MMR. If you queue up as a duo or trio (No four mans allowed in DOTA) you're competing for your party MMR. If you queue up as a full team you're competing for your team MMR. This seems great in essence but there are a few problems.
- Parties and Solo players are paired with and against each other. This is a complaint that occasionally pops on DOTA's Reddit but doesn't seem to be that big a deal. However this would not apply to League of Legends as pure solo queue is a must have for many.
- If a high elo solo player starts playing with a group of low elo players in a party he could boost them.
Option Three, Take DOTA's System and Make it Work For Leauge
Okay first there would be three queues each with a separate Elo.
Solo Queue
- You queue up alone, nice and simple.
- You have to pick from three roles (Only to be implemented if queue times too long.).
Dynamic Queue
- You queue up as a group of two or three, not four.
- Everyone you queue up with must be within one division of each other in both there Dynamic and Solo elos. This should limit boosting.
- Every player must select three roles (Only to be implemented if queue times too long.).
- Duo Queues must cover three roles.
- Triple Queues must cover four roles. Up to five roles must be covered if queue times are too long.
Ranked 5V5 Teams
- This would function based off the current rules for ranked teams.
In my personal opinion option three is the best solution as it leaves Dynamic, Solo and team players satisfied and has a few fail safes in the event of matchmaking problems.
