Unpopular opinion
You should stop writing unpopular opinion into your titles to be ironic and try to get people's attentions.
Also I don't like how kennen's ultimate works. Dunno the popularity of that opinion though.

Unpopular Opinion: Maybe people should come up with original board titles for threads instead of literally copying and pasting another title from some semi-ex-popular board members.
Also OP is legit.
Sad part is these posts don't get any attention.
i hate that negative skillcap champ aswell eheh so it's a popular oppinion jk
The only negative skillcap champion in this game is Tryndamere good sir. Kennan at least has to stack his passive.
Difference between good and bad Tryndamere is huge tbh.
Please enlighten me. Because the only difference I can think of is just general game knowledge.
You need to know how to play vs every different toplaner....when to go aggro, when to just lasthit. For example when I play Jax vs Tryndamere I can immediately see whether they are good or bad...Tryndamere actually can beat Jax fairly easily at the early levels and get a pretty decent advantage if the player knows what he is doing.
He is super reliant on having his fury bar up completely since 35% crit is huge but for that you need to constantly hit sth which means you are pushing 24/7 and exposing yourself to ganks. Good Tryndamere players are excellent at keeping you at pressure under your turret while also wasting your junglers time which helps the rest of his team. Basically you are forced to play the whole lane aggressive or you are gonna be useless.
So effectively its game knowledge over mechanical skill?
More like champion and matchup knowledge.
What champion requires mechanical skill though? The only thats really hard is Draven. Tryndamere is prolly in the same category as Warwick, Malphite or Tristana except orbwalking with melee champs is a bit harder.
champion and matchup knowledge = game knowledge
mechanical skill = reacting to that game knowledge quickly and skillfully
So a champion that requires mechanical skill might be Syndra, because if you don't properly manage your orbs your ultimate may fail to kill a champion. Or Vayne, because improperly utilizing your E and tumble/stealth in combat is a free ticket to dead zone. It involves game knowledge, yes (you have to know which champions are a threat to you and which are not), the mechanical skill is the "I pushed E on Vi as she was charging Q so as soon as she got in range she got condemned" instead of "I attempted to knock Vi back after her Q" - the first player reacted quickly and took advantage of a gameplay mechanic (input buffering) to get an edge over their opponent, while the second player may have had the knowledge to do so but didn't react quickly enough.
So sure, Draven takes mechanical skill (manipulating axes, catching axes repeatedly, etc) but so do many other characters - and most characters take some degree of mechanical skill because there are some "universal" things (what you can and cannot dodge with flash and with what timings, etc).
What about
tho
None of them really rely on RNG as their main mechanic (except arguably, Garen).
Seems like you fed a trynd and your team was mad at you.
I was mad at myself.
tryndamere needs to time his R perfectly to get the most out of it and hsi E is his only escape/engage and should be used wisely his lane phase is trash early anyone can bully him unless he has good rage management not saying he has mechanics just saying e takes more brains than kennen ever will all you do with kennen is auto attack the enemy everytime he comes to the wave and farm then press TP E D HEX R 5inputs and you kill an entire team
The only reason I bought Kennen was because of how impactful his ult is in team fights. xD
You should totally consider picking up Sejuani for when you go jungle. Amazing stuff, really, and nobody expects the Sejuani pick.
Now if only I could jungle... xD
Which part about it? The way it works with hourglass?
I'm on my phone atm so I'll get back to you, but the short version is that it doesn't have typical weaknesses, or kennen too easily builds out of them.
So yeah, partially. Hourglass is part of the problem.
Hi I almost forgot about this.
Okay so let's run through some normal weaknesses in the game, stuff that every champion to at least some extent are capable of taking advantage of:
Damage Triangle
What is the correct answer to playing against a Kennen with his ultimate up in terms of stats and implied play styles? Do you DPS and kite, wearing through his Ultimate as a factor of time? Do you gun him down in a moment giving him no moment to react? Or do you tank up and hope to outlast him?
First doesn't work. The name role that comes to mind are ADCs, and Kenne's Ultimate is the standard Marksman range of 550. Because of Lightning rush, even if you kite perfectly, he'll get you.
Second doesn't work. Kennen's core items include
and
. Throw in a
when needed and that he has built in resistances when he Lightning Rushes, and you have a surprisingly bulky Ranged Damage dealer. On top of this, the typical classes that have access to the front end damage to try this play style all function well within the 550 range and thus have to walk through his Ultimate and most likely get stunned, or are Artillery Mages that Kennen can dodge in normal dodge Artillery Mage fashion (on a related tangent, I like Artillery Mages by design).
Third kinda gives us our best option. Either way we are eating a Kennen Ult to the face if he wants to, might as well raise our shields and hope we survive at least the first Stun proc. Of course, Damage dealers can't itemize purely defensively without losing their purpose, so it turns into a bit of an arms race at that point, considering that Kennen too is a natural damage dealer itemizing some defense, and statsticking the hell out of each other is not engaging gameplay to me. The solution is made more sour when you consider that Kennen, for the most part, counters Tanky Top Laners. Of course Bulky Mid and Supports exist and of course Bulky or Juggernaut or Tank Junglers exist, so it's not that bad.
Range/Dodging
Already mentioned in the last point, but I want to bring this up to emphasize.
Melee (sub 500) - Their options include outplaying the opponent, be it leaping in from afar for a short moment when the enemy shows their weakness and trying to get out of or blocking the enemy's strengths. With its short cast time and it being a self centered AOE, you can see why melee options aren't the best for fighting Kennen from a generalized standpoint. Kennen's bulkiness, both bought and natural, doesn't help.
Ranged (Standard 500ish) - As explained before, Kennen can generally outpace people in this range category. Fights in this category quickly turn into stat checking Arms races, which I don't personally like and I'm pretty sure is a design principal that isn't highly encouraged in League.
Artillery (+500/+1000) - The unfortunate delays or tells of these abilities mean that a lot of the power is given to Kennen to outplay mechanically. This is normally fair for most other champions, but since Kennen doesn't give that many opportunities to outplay him mechanically, it gives him a lot more control over a fight than most other champions that would be considered more fair.
Zone control
Set up the perimeter and form some walls. Make sure the front line is spaced a healthy distance away from the back line and all your flanks are warded.
Honestly this is one of the better ways to counter Kennen. With his main tools being Lightning Rush and Slicing Maelstrom, there's a lot of him running at you, and proper zone control or at least vision control helps. I don't like this argument for lower ranks however, as it's far more Specialized Champion/Teamwork dependent, or trusts that your team mates are helping the support in keeping the map lit up. It's a legitimate argument for higher tier play and competitive games, but it bothers me that this is one of the strongest ways to counter Kennen's Ultimate and it mostly relies on much more specialized requirements.
Macro Strategy
I wasn't sure whether or not to put this with Zone Control, but I think it requires mention.
Do you group up as a team or do you send a guy to split push? Do you siege and stall or do you force your way in? Dragons or Baron or Towers or just Minion manipulation. I couldn't come with a good catch all term for this so I said Macro Strategy, hope you all get this.
I'm not sure what the correct Macro Strategy is to use against Kennen. Grouping up altogether has some obvious problems with the nature of Kennen's Ult, and split pushing can be stalled with the nature of the rest of his kit. Kennen has or can build the tools to break slow play styles, and his Ult can activate fast enough to react to aggressive play styles. Being in a pit with Kennen sounds like a disaster, yet towers potentially open more flanks for Kennen to maneuver through.
To summarize, from a general standpoint, it's hard to counter Kennen's Ultimate because of one factor or another. Specialization works, I just don't like it when the only answer becomes specialization. Or statstick arms races.
You should stop writing unpopular opinion into your titles to be ironic and try to get people's attentions.
Literally exactly what you did.
Asking questions around here gets you downvoted for some reason- it makes me cringe so hard when the League community punishes people for asking about the game, champions, ect. My unpopular opinion is they should remove the thumbs up / down system.
"I know this will get a lot of downvotes..."
Strange, I post a thread like this and it gets downvoted into oblivion, someone else posts a thread like this and it gets a bunch of upvotes.
Yeah I have to agree, it feels super petty. Although that seems to be a theme among yordle ultimates.
Unpopular opinion, I like this post.
froma support standpoint, You either blow him up by burning all your CC on him before he can Zhonya's, or bait his ult and Zhonya's hoping you can tank most of the burst and
your carry. The problem with burning all the CC is obvious b/c then the rest of the enemy team wrecks your back line and you. Exhaust helps, if you use it on him and can still peel for your ADC and mid. I don't like playing against him, with the Proto Belt he's super annoying
I hate all the morde players that want attention
Even I'm getting tired of Morde posts, and I made like 2-3 of them.
I don't disagree. When they changed Slicing Malestrom away from RNG into guaranteed hits (it hits everyone around you now, with less hits for lower rank instead of hitting a random target every x seconds as of Mage Update) it was kinda a nice QoL buff for Kennen, but it was also kind of a huge buff to the Zhonya+Ultimate combination since minion positioning can't be used to counteract the ult (and you can't tank shots for squishier members). Prior to the change Kennen really wanted to tag just your backline, and now it seems like as long as he gets into the middle of the team he can have impact. More focus on skilled Kennen ults vs just Kennen ults with Flash+Protobelt would be nice.
Agreed I find it pretty bull that he can stun you multiple times if you don't have any way to escape it or even if you do but aren't fast enough to get out of it before the second/third stun.
Unpopular opinion, yas is terrible to vs
ik ik
I don't like how his ult works either. Being able to stun an entire team in a large area just by existing???? I call OP.
I also think the fact that Kennens ultimate does so much damage in a gigantic AoE while also effectively CCing everybody in it is completely obnoxious. And to top it off he can his his W, protobelt, and move freely during the duration.
i feel like it would feel a lot more fair to play against if he couldn't issue move commands or protobelt during his ult. Force him to commit flash to it or find a good initial position to use it. His ult just flat out provides too much in a teamfight and I can't believe there aren't nerfs on the PBE for it. Jayce gets complained about more often but Kennen is far more overpowered at the moment and has a lot more counterplay. Jayce wont press zhonyas and mow down your entire team while during its duration. Granted he doesn't build it obviously, but you get my point.
I mean considering that anything seemingly "unpopular opinion" gets automatically downvoted and therefore ignored in the dust, some people saw the need to add that as a title in hopes of preventing the "auto downvote and ignore it completely" thing.
