If you had swapped your Phantom Dancer for a Maw of Malmortius or Spirit Visage, you'd have likely encountered far fewer issues.
Rather than attempting to duel him, you'd have been better off grouping with your team. Vayne and Morgana would be able to kill him without many issues due to Vayne's true damage and Morgana's Black Shield.
All you'd really have to do at that point is shred his armor with Black Cleaver and peel. Alternatively, the rest of Malphite's team was extremely squishy and you could just burst them down.

Dude's got 335 BONUS armor, and GW to deal with your lifesteal. Sunfire damage, thornmail damage, and a Sheen proc off Iceborn to make fighting you even easier.
PhDs Nuts4 votesYour only defense was GA and Tabi. Those are 2 of the worst defensive items in the game against a Malphite. You would have lost to Maokai, Tahm Kench, Cho, Mundo, Ornn, Nasus, Singed, insert nearly any other juggernaut/tank with that build and either deals magic damage or reduces armor.
Your build is essentially 3 items against him. Phantom Dancer, Tabi, and GA are wasted stats. Change PD+GA to Maw/SV+LDR and you'd probably be fine. You'd need to use your mobility to dodge his first E, but Riven can win.
TS Media1 votesNo, I would've beat Maokai. At least I find that champ decently balanced. I would've also beat mundo and ornn. Legit Malphite, Cho, Nasus and Singed are the only champs I can't beat in the late game. However, before season 8 and during my fervor patch, at the very least I could outplay Malphite and Cho. Singed was debatable, but doable.
But oh... wait... right, fervor? LOL, yeah Riot forgot the bruiser keystone! I'm here using Aftershock and grasp just to match these guy whoopdie fucking doo. But I can't outscale them and I STILL can't beat them in lane. That's some perfectly balanced stuff right there.
Know what pisses me off the most? We're already on 8.4 and still NO news on this new keystone. They might as well say fuck anyone who doesn't play tanks, you idiots are never getting fervor back. I'm actually PAST my limit waiting for this company now. Actually done.

Sasogwa2 votesIt is normal. Actually a decently built Riven beats malphite, but it shouldn't happen. Malphite is literally the armor stacking anti ad guy, and Riven is only physical damage. I don't understand why Riven should win.
