So can RIOT explain if we HAVE to play support and what that entails?

Seriously can you lay it out because I am tired of attempting to play support in what I deem the proper manner (assist the ADC by trying to get them safe farming, buy a sightstone and ward, sacrifice my life to save my ADC, set them up kills etc...) and then when i play ADC getting th person who picks zyra has zero armour goes full AP spends the entire game running around with 1 ward in their inventory (but never using it) pretending they are warding, dumping all their abilties on every wave, using me as their human shield so they can snipe kills etc....

Now I am fine either way I just need to know if i too can do the latter, or if the latter is considered "trolling" and please no dodging the question going on about how it is fine if the team agrees on it, because no one has the discussion in champ selection if the support can farm never ward etc...

Just straight talk and an answer please. what is reportable what isnt.

As a support player I cringe whenever I see an Annie or Lux that starts Dorans ring, I already know how it's going to play out, they're going to maybe upgrade the yellow trinket, and use "warding is a team objective" as an excuse for why they aren't the ones doing it, other roles should be warding, but if you're support, YOU SHOULD BE YOUR TEAMS MAIN SOURCE OF VISION CONTROL. I've had matches where I had the upgraded red trinket by level 9, and from mid game forward I had a ruby sight stone, 3 sight wards and 2 vision wards in my inventory every time I left base, so I was able to place vision dynamically when the objectives changed and we moved to another part of the map, you don't need to do this every game, but if you aren't getting sight stone on support, you are setting your team at a MAJOR disadvantage. People say vision wins games, but vision actually just helps keep you from losing, clearing vision wins games, so if you don't place any to begin with, then you're handing an advantage to the enemy team for free.

Agreed! The only time I start Dorans is if I'm playing with my friend who is ADC and he asks me to go full AP instead of traditional (which happens depending on the enemy laners, some lanes we can stomp easily with Annie's burst)

As for the warding statement, I also agree 100%. I hate when people are just like "THERE'S NO VISION" but I have all 4 wards on the map, clearing wards, and rotating them, looking at him like "Dafuq you want me to do?"

Reminder that supports can only place 3 wards, and 3 wards its not enought

Yeah, I'm aware of that, I'm talking about the ones who don't ward at all, I buy sight stone on top and jungle if I can, vision control OP, if I'm mid or ADC I still buy pink and green wards, my issue is when I'm the only one doing it, especially as a carry role, if you're in a utility role and your damage dealers need to sacrifice damage in order to cover warding, the team gets set behind because of it.

Not playing support, so long as you have clearly communicated your position, is perfectly acceptable according to the rules. Check out Disco Heat for some examples on youtube.

Not following the generally accepted rules the community has put in place (also known as the meta) can be a dick move, so don't expect to make many friends doing it. That said they can be as angry as they want, you're not actually breaking the rules.

Just keep in mind the new draft system that's coming will force one player to play support, which basically means double jungle, roaming, and other less common roles are going to be either questionable (since getting the support role means you got the support role, not roamer or second jungler) or they are going to be covered by the support label.

In any case just make sure to clearly communicate what you're doing to your team, and good luck.

What you said is something I can agree with! Communicating what you plan on doing, which Disco Heat always does but gets a LOT of flak for (or anyone else for that matter), is paramount. If they can willingly accecpt that you will be doing a possibly off-meta thing and work with you crazy stuff can happen! Like Kalista as the Markswoman and Yasuo as the support. Reason that works surpisingly well is due to how their ults works, since Yasuo has near total control of both aspects of this deadly combo! Heck with the implementation of the new item 2049 it could make this even MORE doable since Yasuo is essentially much like "Support" Velkoz Annie or Brand as just some examples. They all become secondary carries from the supporting role once the mid-late game comes around.

Also Yasuo + item 3050 gives him 100% crit while it's active, and 50% to the Kalista, who doesn't really even need it, though with the removal of Avarice blade from some of the artificial gold items I'm not sure how well AD supports are going to work in the next patch, guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'd say just go with the item 3097 + item 2049 upgrade then get the new item 3508 then go basically his normal crit build which will net him CDR from getting Crit due to the new item 3508 , because you would want his Windwall up as much as possible to deny the enemy Marksman last hit gold.

Just a theory though.

even if CDR was any good on Yas he doesn't have mana, so essence reaver would not be good, Zekes and a Botrk into some tank should be decent though, like item 3050 item 3153 item 3006 item 3097+item 2049 item 3742 item 3102 item 3364 for the full build

Void Nargacuga1 votes

The reason for the new item 3508 is because of its passive giving CDR based off an amount of Crit chance you get from other items. That's my reasoning though. Hence why it would be the only "Mana" item he would have really besides the new item 3078, with it he WILL have maxed CDR with just those 2 updated items once pre-season hits.

What else to build? I'm not sure. Red trinket is a must though. Gotta debate on what we KNOW works on him (AS/Crit chance) and finding what will work or not as a potential support build.

But I got to admit, I like the idea of the build that you got there honestly. WE MUST EXPERIMENT! FOR THOSE WHO LIKE OFF-META THINGS!

Vesarixx1 votes

Yeah I know what you were going for with reaver, but CDR really isn't a stat you want to invest in, he was terrible in URF because the CDR really didn't do all that much for him.

Void Nargacuga1 votes

The main idea for CDR was abusing Windwall to deny last hits for the enemy carry.

And to stop the heavy engage supports which are running rampant in the meta.

Its a work in progress still. [slayer-jinx-wink]

yeah I get what you were going for, it's just really inefficient, if you go Zekes with a fighter build you spend less gold than a crit build, can tank damage for your team, CC people with Q and ult, and when the zekes kicks in you can go into carry mode. Cheaper build, less 1v1 potential, but pretty decent team fighting. If you are going to get a CDR item then you should probably go with Black Cleaver, so you can shred armor for your team, and increase their damage.

Good point on the item 3071 ! I should have thought about that sooner! XD

I main support as well and actually truly love hyper aggressive kill lane supports...atm my favorite are Annie and Brand support and when I play them I want to get fed. That being said, I still buy SS early, it may not be my very first purchase, but it will be in the early game and every time I back before it, i'm buying a ward or two. I always upgrade my sweeper at level 9(or 10 at the latest if I dont have a chance to back during 9th) and when I get fed, ideally my score in lane is 0/0/X as the kills going to my adc is still WAAAY more useful to the group

Plus the only time its ok to farm as an support is 1.Relic shield procs with tankier supports and 2.No laner/jg in lane, im holding turret for a sec(usually this occurs if my adc and I dont get to back at the same time).

You can play aggressive, get a kill lane, be Billy Badass, and still do your damn job.
