Why does Nidalee's cougar form costs no mana, but Quinn's does?

Pretty unfair comparison there, Nidalee gets to jungle mana-free while spamming Cougar transform every 3 seconds, while Quinn has to pay 100 mana to switch with Valor, then gets to cost even more mana to use her bird-abilities. I think this is the one of many reason why Quinn isn't a favoured ADC/top lane champ.

What a whole-ly unrelated topic. Next you'll be saying "WHY SHOULD HEIMERDINGER'S ULT COST MANA WHEN KARMA'S DOESN'T!?"

Cougar form is a stance swap. Valor is an Ultimate ability.

Nidalee is strong, Quinn has issues. But the whole comparison is flawed.

Um . . . they're pretty much the same in this case, man.

Both involve a change in form which gives a buff in certain areas (e.g. movement speed, attack speed) at the cost of others (e.g. range, safety).

The difference is that Valor is on a 140/110/80 second cd and ends in the most pathetic "execute" in the game (its damage caps at 400+100%bonus AD, and that's when the target is at 0% health), whereas cougar form is on a 3 second cooldown, and has no half-assed execute.

I'm not necessarily with the OP in saying it should have no mana cost. But I think it should be reduced. And it'd be nice if Quinn and Valor had separate cooldowns, so you could perform your combo and then ult for a finisher without waiting 12 seconds.

Edit: Um, what? Did you really just downvote me, and then edit your post to answer my argument? I do not remember that last line being there. I'll believe you if you say it was a coincidence, but you should make it obvious you're editing the post if you do it in response to a comment.

I'm sure she isn't favored as an ADC/top lane more because she's riddled with so many bugs, some of which I can trigger in the first 10 minutes of a game accidentally multiple times a minute.

I don't think it should cost that much mana but it should cost mana. Quinn gets a retardedly high speed boost along with the new skills and after the change ends she still can do damage from it.

Nidalee only gets alternate skills and I think a small speed buff (idr I havent played her in ages)

Also Quinn's is an actual skill while Nidalee's is like Jayce a legit transformation.

Idk why you got the downvotes for asking a question and received no answer

In about 30 years, absolutely.

Why are Caitlyn traps 100x better thanNidalee and why are teemos traps better than both of them

BECAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT CHAMPIONS

Cuz they are different champions that do different things? Why does darius ult do true damage but xerath's doesn't? OP!!!

Thematically, because Nidalee TRANSFORMS into a cougar, whereas Quinn just commands her bird, Valor, to enter melee for a while.

Thematically it makes even less sense then for Nid to have her cooldowns reset. If she is a form swap, that means she is the same person that just used her q, so it should be on CD... whereas Valor is a completely separate character, but yet somehow has the same Cooldowns as Quinn. You have your "thematically" backwards...

Quinn will be balanced once they fix her bugs and give her QoL on her autoattack animation.

Balanced if not overpowered, that is. Her numbers are fine.

And Quinn's ult has an AoE execute at the end of it, combined with an 80% attack speed buff and a 100% movespeed increase outside of combat. It's honestly closer to a Singed or Ryze ult than to Nidalee's form switch, and if you think of it as a Burst Delivery System (dive the target, E-Q-auto-R, massive damage) then it tends to work much better... except that it also has the movespeed and attack speed as a fallback in case that pattern fails (because your target is dead before you arrive, etc)

No the problem isn't that Quinn needs mana to transform, it's that Nidalee doesn't. It's one of the many reasons she's called the Cancer Panther.

Now I don't play Quinn, so I can't really put my two cents towards her kit, but her ult swap seems like a very strong duel for burst damage and finishing off low health enemies; I'd say that she still needs mana for them, but perhaps they might need to be lowered juuuust a bit. Again, I don't play her.
