Why nobody builds Zz'Rot

It's useless early game. Without the extra damage from built armor or MR, you aren't going to get a whole lot done with it. There are just better places to spend your gold for your first couple of items.

Mid game: tanks split pushing just doesn't work. You can't 1v1 anybody, and, for most tanks, don't have the mobility to escape when someone comes to counter you. Your time is better spent with the team then trying to slowly push down a tower. And you can't just drop a portal and leave because the voidspawns will almost never reach the tower

Late game: By this point, most of the towers should be down. Either your team is winning, in which case you don't have many options for where to splitpush and your team is going to want you for fights anyway. OR your team is losing, in which case you won't even get the chance to extend to a tower without dying in the process.

Also, the voidspawns just die. Like, they feel like they do nothing even when they rarely live. It just feels like a uselss item when they never get to the tower. I wish they ignored minions, or had more health, or didn't die after only 5 seconds on the field (mostly this one).

Also it sucks cuz enemies get 25 gold whenever they kill one

Shen doesn't 1v1 anything anymore. That strat is long gone since teamfights can be over before his teleport completes.

IMO the main point of the item is lost on people when they see the big chunks being taken off of turrets and inhibs and they try to save the active for taking turrets.

As long as you put it in a position where it can maximize effectiveness vs. enemy creeps, i.e. behind the enemy creep line, your wave will push hard and you can go do splitpush/tfight in another lane. If you try to stay in the same lane as your portal you're just wasting your time. The portal is NOT meant to push fast like a hydra or shiv would. It's meant to grow pressure on another lane so you can draw an enemy team member away later and hopefully force a 4v5.

Did you know that on champs like Galio Leona and ramus or anyone who has a self armour/mr buff. That is you use the buff then place the portal it will keep the extra damage?

Agreed. I also very much so dislike the fact that NOWHERE DOES IT SAY that the minions die over time of their own accord. They just like "Oh, I don't want to live anymore. Bye" before they even do anything... item 3512 See?

I built it once, placed it at base expecting the minions to be, well, minions, and get to lane. Nope. Died before they even did ANYTHING. It needs a buff, or change the item completely. The active is neat, but the stats aren't worth the investment.

It's an item that i think is better suited for split-pushing bruisers in place of their other armor/MR item(s).

For example instead of building item 3156 item 3143 item 3153 (probably not optimal anyway but i'm just illustrating a point)

you could build item 3512 item 3072 item 3071

which leaves you with double the lifesteal, a bit more MR, 1.5x the AD, and the armor pen, but less armor, health and AS. If you want to survive and run away from your enemies you might go for the first set of items, but if you want to kill anyone who dares come for you you might go with the second set of items. Of course this is on top of the other split pushing items such as item 3068 item 3142 item 3074 as random examples.

You need to clear the wave and let the voidlings attack the turret otherwise they are useless.

The main problem ZZ Top portal has is that Riot doesn't actually want anyone using it.

You can also use it to defend your base from one lane of super minions. I have found a few situational uses for zzrot, and I would consider building it if I needed a bit of MR on a tank that doesn't self-heal. Even dropping it in a lane and then going to seige another lane ensures that the lane with the portal will be pushed for the next little while and it might even get the tower eventually.

You don't build Zz'Rot portal to benefit from the extra damage given to every fourth Voidspawn, but to help an already pushing wave to push harder once you hit a turret.

I build Zz'Rot portal on Nasus and Udyr, and just by placing it just outside of turret range means I get a ton of extra damage off from it. Usually I'm able to take towers between 5-15 seconds faster just by using it (each Voidling spawns after the one before it comes a certain lenght away) so at best, two Voidspawn are out all the time, one reaching the turret and the other spawning.

They are significant. They are never useless. I placed it right next to an inhib turret and the Voidspawns helped me win the game by pushing with me.

It's a shame because Zz'Rot seems like one of these items that would make game more fun and diverse. When I saw it, I was excited but soon I discovered how useless it unfortunately is.

Its main problem is that GA offers same resistances with an amazing passive. So by making it slightly tankier this will be solved but still the passive is useless. Since its for top laners who are splitting I would love to see the current passive removed, put one on that makes the portal active be hidden and you can teleport to it in 1.5s and your tp cd is halved. This would be very strong on splitpushers but not overbearing or game breaking and it fits the theme better than the current passive.

They are buffing it next patch which will make it playable I think

I like it on singed RoA, Tear, Rylai, Liandry , Zz'rot for resistance.

I push to tower, drop it at tower so ti helps me damage it then watch the other team choke trying to catch me. (Often leaving the portal to do more damage to tower)

Meanwhile my team take other objectives when 3-4 people chase me around

The enemy Alistar gave this build a name, called it Raptor Olaf.

Get ZZ rto early because you can use it to keep the lane stable and return to it fast with the Raptor. RG for those engages, OW so that Banner of Command and ZZ'Rot become unstoppable and attack speed and Lifesteal for those danty temfights.

What if the minions lost 40% of their current HP per second. At some point they'll be at 1 HP never die. But anything will finish it off. But they will at least last longer. After 5 seconds they'll be at 7.7% hp. Easy enough for anything to finish it off. If the initial 40% hit is too much it's starting HP can be slightly increased. The % is mostly to make it so it loses a lot of HP by 5 seconds, but not enough that it'll die from it.

It's not bad on shen. If you're split pushing as shen and the enemy team starts a fight 5v4, you just drop your portal near the turret you're trying to push and ult into your team. It's especially nice if you're pushing the inner turrets, since if you put it near their base it can hit the inner turret, and then once that goes down start pushing the inhib turret as well.

If you do that then most likely even if you lose the teamfight you'll at least get a turret.

Though it does rely on you having a lane pushed near a turret to be effective.

It has issues because building up to it is pointless when better items of the same price exist.

Late game, my issue with it is how quickly those things kill themselves, I especially hate how they go after minions.
