Take a break with making new champs and just fix all champs.

Right now League is currently in a weird state. Where there is a few really OP champs and then a sea of champs that aren't even needed now because of the OP champs. Maybe instead of making new champions Riot needs to focus a lot of effort on the balance of the game. Because it isn't where it should be. I think having the game come closer to where it needs to be in balance terms will keep the old players still playing. And once that is in a better spot than Champion creation can resume. Because now it just seems that new champions instantly come out OP. Maybe try adding them in really underpowered and then buffing them until they are in a good spot.

Side note Riot. Doing a rework on a newer champion isn't always such a bad idea. You can redo their kits in order to make them play a bit more fairly. Champion identity is what you make the champion. Just because they don't have an old move doesn't mean you're destroying the champion.

The team that balances the champions and designs champions are different from one another.

And by fix, we mean "fix". Not "tack on true damage and mobility and call it a day".

Riot has been fucking the last few patches. Devour was stupid. This new rework and buffs are retarded strong. I'm pretty sure Skarner went from below 50% winrate to 65% and that's with new people trying him out and stuff. Vayne is just crazy strong now since they decided to nerf every adc but her. There's no champion diversity because if you dont have the following you lose. Top: Garen Dariu Fiora Mid: Azir Viktor Ahri ADC: Vayne Jinx Trist Support: Thresh Morg Braum Jungle is the only role with champion diversity from sated junglers like Shyvana, Udyr, Xin, Wrrwick to early game best like Lee, Elise and Cinderhulk like Gragas and Ekko. Right now, I can't even use Anivia w/o getting reported for trolling.

Riot's philosophy of avoiding hard counters is not working, to say the least.

I have been saying this forever. Don't release new champs until you fix the current ones. Besides, half of the new champs that have been released in the last 2 years have been broken as hell. When you make champs that can succeed in any matchup, there is no way to fairly balance them.

I feel like you should go be head of Riot for a while... Because you're correct.

League has always been in that "weird" state you've described. I remember Hecarim Season 3 dominating the jungle all season. Riot didn't do nearly enough nerfs on him. I also remember Season 3 Top Lane Renekton who dominated the top lane for some reason that I can't pinpoint. There was also Ezreal ADC, very popular and very effective. Sona was picked every game in Season 3. The midlaners were Katarina, Talon and Zed. Lee Sin was in the background overshadowed by Hecarim in Season 3.
