Still waiting for Quinns autos to be fixed and lower CD on her ult.
^title. I thought Riot was looking at Quinn...
^title. I thought Riot was looking at Quinn...
I couldn't care less about her ult CD.
Just fix her AA's.
If I'm feeling selfish, then I'd also ask for her Harrier to proc better.
I'd rather her receive a new ult entirely. Her current one makes little sense both logically and gameplay-wise (Quinn can fly? How did she land there afterwards? Why did she rain a thousand arrows down on Valor?).
Really???
You want logic to apply to lol? Boots no longer work on Anivia/Cass, IE/BT/etc do nothing for ADCs, Cait now instantly kills everyone, etc.
Gameplay-wise, Quinn is about dueling her opponent and it's really good for that.
There are limits to suspending disbelief. Quinn's ult exceeds that, and is indicative of a rushed design (which Riot admits to).
I'm not in disbelief about Quinn's ult. Not anymore than I am about Nidalee turning into a cat, People being able to levitate, or an otherwise magicless Garen being able to summon a huge sword from nowhere.
Except those are explainable within the realm of magic. Riot doesn't even go so far as to attempt explaining where she goes, either visually or textually. She supposedly ejects herself into the air, despite having no means to do so, whether it be via magic or technology. She just... vanishes. That's why it's indicative of a rushed design.
I always pretended she and Valor combined, and the initial use of the ult is her sending arrows into the sky attached to a balloon that follows them combined duo to a tether. Upon reactivating/time ending, Valor goes up and destroys the balloon in a deadly assault of arrows.
Best I can do.
I actually never thought of her using a Balloon, that might work. As for fusing with Valor, try again :P
Everything makes sense now.
So let's say Garen knows a little magic (despite everything in his kit saying otherwise). Why would he summon a giant sword to smite his oppoenents rather than a fireball? Rushed design.
Now as far as Quinn goes, what would make it more believable, while still keeping with similar functionality (as in access to Valor)?
lol I honestly don't know where you were going with that rebuttal. If Riot says Quinn grows wings and flies up into the air, and has it animated to match, then I'll totally be fine with it. The main thing is that it has an explanation.
And as someone with 1500-2000 games on Quinn, I honestly want them to rework her ult in one capacity or another.
The place where I was going with the whole Garen thing is he is a soldier and the one spell that he knows how to use is how to summoner a giant sword to fall out of the sky. Despite all the other possible things that a soldier might want to know; such starting a fire, paralyzing an enemy, shooting lightning from their hands, invisibility, healing allies; all Garen knows is how to make a giant ass sword fall out of the sky? You think that is believable?
As far as an explanation for Quinn's ult: Her bond with Valor is so strong she can make herself teleport to Valor's location. Valor then swoops down and attacks. Quinn meanwhile glides around in her Birdsuit. Quinn then summons herself back to Valor's location.
TIL a soldier that kills people for a living having a spell to kill people with is unbelievable.
And as contrived as your explanation is, I can at least commend it for trying to explain something. However, Riot clearly didn't. Why? Because it was outside of the scope of her character. Your explanation would imply that a) she is adept enough at magic to perform long distance teleportation (which according to TF, is quite a feat), and b) she has superhuman legs to propel herself 2000 feet into the air. They obviously wanted her to be a skilled but ordinary soldier that is only strong because of her ability to fight in unison with Valor. However, they couldn't find a way to rationalise it within the confines of her lore, or otherwise set up the necessary mechanics to facilitate it, so they just fisted Tag Team in and expected you to turn a blind eye to it. That's why it's a rushed design, and your notion to just ignore it doesn't dismiss that fact.
It's not that having a spell that kills people is bad for a soldier is bad, it's that there is way more efficient ways of doing it than having a giant sword fall from the sky. Like throwing a giant fireball. Or turning someone into an ice cube. There are much better single spells for a soldier to know than making a sword too big to yield fall out of the sky.
You're not going to convince me that Quinn needs a new ult because their isn't a logical animation for what happens to Quinn. If you want to do that, then you need to come up with a new ult that says "This is Quinn and Valor" better than her current one.
When Valor takes over, I imagine Quinn hops away to prepare her Skystrike, while chasing the battle out of sight.
Now, don't ask me how she manages to make it rain bolts. I don't think her crossbow is capable of loading all those arrows at once. We are definitely expected to suspend disbelief here
They probably don't have plans to lower Quinn's Ultimate Cooldown, and the reasoning for that :
Phreak -
"I know it's extremely long, but basically this is what happens:
If Quinn gets ahead, her ult is REALLY REALLY good at forcing and securing kills over and over again. Any time Quinn picked up any sort of a lead, she could just ulti on cooldown and force another kill in the lane, making it pretty unrecoverable. The balance then was struck between how often she could force kills vs. power of the ability and we settled on a longer cooldown.
Certainly, it's not that useful when behind. Going melee on an ADC is risky. But because Valor is so damn good at chasing down and assassinating a squishy Marksman, we opted for a long cooldown early game."

Hmm after reading your post (of Phreaks reply) I started thinking.
Couldn't Riot lower base damage value on her ultimate and add some "%HP/%HP missing" damage along with lowering Quinns CD?
That way it'll be less effective (when ahead) on squishy targets while having similar power against beefier melees?
i would prefer the other way around. Give valor some extra auto attack damage, keep the CD but make the ult more useful
I imagine Repertoir will get to it when he gets her changes in.
They are, so stop being impatient about it.
RR has had to say 3 times now he is still looking at her.
Still waiting for her to not be viable top first. Do that, then buff Quinn to respectable ADC standards. Because dear God I can only imagine a buffed Quinn going top as an even harder counterpick.
I hate that feeling too, especially when I already picked a melee for top. I think I messed up a few times by rushing T. Hydra instead of Randuins. I feel like Randuins would have really hindered her.
Idk only fought her twice top--just guessing at what I could have done to win or at least go even.
I want a lot of things for quinn. Preferably to be reworked and turned into a two form champion
Please no, I want to play Quinn, not Nidalee or Jayce
They are. Hopefully we'll see what they're cooking up after the Worlds patch.
Why? She's currently in the position that Fiora used to be in. A money trap for people who like the concept. RIOT is presented with no pressing reason for fixing her.
I read something that seems something like, "Who fucking cares?"
It's more like "who at RIOT fucking cares."
Let's face it, Quinn is absolute garbage. But from everything RIOT has said about her construction, she was meant to be absolute garbage (though they use something like the phrase "a very niche pick").
Only one of two things could make her work:
Point one is not conceivable, and point two isn't going to happen as long as RIOT maintains that she was meant to be garbage, because a maintenance of the status quo is a fulfillment of her purpose.
She can be played decently. It's just super frustrating because her passive and her autoattacks are stupidly bugged the latter not fit for ADCing. She's probably the hardest ADC to kite with her long animations that take ages to shoot the bolt.
Fix AA make her passive more reliable
I mean just making it so it can apply to 2 targets at once from passive proc and vault proc would greatly help her passive reliability, I've used vault as it applies to a minion and then I don't get the passive on the enemy champion I just vaulted off of...
Am I the only one who can get away with rushing Tiamat?
If you think Quinn's auto attacks are messed up you should see Caitlyn's.
What's wrong with her autos? And why should her ult have a lower CD?
I'm pretty sure you can't kite with her autos. She cancels her basic attack projectiles. Either you can't animation cancel (with the arrow still shooting to the target) or her AA animations are too long to meaningfully orbwalk with her.
It's fine in top lane because usually you're versing melees. Not great against ADC who know how to kite themselves because you get out harassed and outkited.
They won't buff Quinn CD because she could chase down enemies when ahead?
90 MS bonus + tumble
Plus if Quinn is in ult, she doesn't get passive procs. That's 25-215 (+.5 bonus AD) that she doesn't get. That's a huge amount of damage to lose, especially when you can double proc with E.
Not being able to double-proc makes you lose 50-430 (+1.0 bonus AD.)
Honestly what I want to see is being able to at least get your passive proc damage on her E when in valor form.
Master yi gets a huge speed buff that can't be slowed, SIVIR can empower her team with the same speed buff, don't complain about Quinn's movement speed. She only gets it until she enters battle, and she's still squishy. The only difference is when she's valor she has to get closer to the enemy to fight them, that's why there's an attack speed boost.
And I'm still waiting for Baker
.
Keep waiting...they rather remove this useless champ before they buff her.
I buy a lot of cdr on quinn and its ridicilously strong. The mappressure that she offers would be pretty toxic if they lower the cd on it imo. Btw she is not useless, she is a niche pick but extremly good in some situations.
And that passive needs to be fixed. Even if no one wants to work on it much, it would help loads to have autos pop a debuff instead of making Quinn wind up to shoot them. Also possibly spells porcini harrier so that it doesn't mark right before you e to that target. But yeah fixing the auto and passive would be great and just about all she needs imp. The ult cool down is rather long and the execute negligible (sure it's an okay finisher, but literally the execute damage based on % missing hp is like 100 dmg.) and the movespeed falloff when in combat doesn't make sense to me.
