Mordekaiser balance considerations

This champ is a bit rough. His passive is great but honestly ineffectual before mid-late game. I get his Ult can be broken as all hell but there is a summoner spell, several items, and many champ abilities that counter it rather effectively. Any shield ability can prevent the Ghost, Spellshields, Clease, Quicksilver Sash, the ways to counter that ult are MASSIVE. In fact its at the point where you NEED ignite to make it work since its a simple dash to a back turret for a shield to help prevent the damage from the ult alone.

Honestly the only things I think he needs to get a little more competitive is a moderate slow on his E you could even reduce its base damage a bit as a trade off and up his MS a bit to help with his NO escape. He is currently at 340 MS if you boosted it to 345 and gave him like a 15-20% slow on his E I think he would see a bit more playability.

Another issue is the Health cost on his abilities. I don't think they should be taken away but for a Mage who spams such abilities it counters the shield passive. Maybe reduce the amount they take. I would say half them but that might be a bit drastic Maybe -5 at all levels and see how that plays first.

What do you guys think?

I think that Riot should consider severely nerfing his ultimate in order to allow him some breathing room in the rest of his kit. The guy has no mobility (W magnets is pitiful), no CC, and slowly kills himself in order to do anything during laning phase (especially with his health regen being cut down to nearly 1/3 of what it was). Personally, I'd like to give his Q a stun on the main target or give his E a slow, while removing the DoT and/or passive stats from his ultimate. The %max hp burst at the beginning of his ultimate is enough to make it significant, damage-wise. The stat sharing part of the ultimate is usually a moot point because if you get a ghost, the fight you're in is often over by the time you get it.

Also, if Riot really wants Mordekaiser to be a beefy/tanky man made of armor, they might need to consider making his shield's maximum amount be based off of Morde's max health, not just his level...
