Jungle Items

Warrior - Seems really good until compared to other jungler items. [Balanced]

Runeglaive - The recent changes to it made it a fair item, and Ezreal isn't in every game anymore. [Balanced]

Cinderhulk - Still a fairly strong jungling item, but was nerfed slightly to make it more balanced. [A bit strong]

... And Devourer - This thing is really just toxic to face. Although the champions who normally benefit from it are usually trash early game, if the timer hits 30 minutes and only one jungler has it, it's GG. It's power is insane, applying on-hit effects TWICE and dealing massive damage from only having to build one item. [Overpowered]

What I would be a more balanced version is testing out having a ratio on the Devourer Enchant, making it deal 50% of the normal damage of the effects being applied.

(IE; Master Yi's Wuju Style deals [ 30 base true damage + 50% increase from Devourer = 45 true damage].)

This should allow other junglers who don't benefit from Devourer to not be outclassed, and would remove the [x-item] jungle meta, resulting in most junglers/jungle types being at about the same strengths. Any additional ideas to prevent a new meta of junglers would be appreciated, and you can leave the ideas below in the comments, as well as your opinion on Devourer and this proposal.

Stack Generation effects would not be impacted from this.

Devourer is probably the weakest smitem. It does nothing early and it's only slightly better than other smitems later. All you have to do is pressure your lanes early because their jungler either going to be farming non-stop or he's not going to be stacking his devourer.

Devourer is actually pretty strong on purchase. Less than warrior, but it becomes a lot better pretty soon. If devourer is the weakest item, then why are the top winrate jungler in plat+ being dominated by devourer champions? The only other champions competing with these are the ones with Runeglaive and a few with cinderhulk. You don't see any Warrior jungler in the top 10 winrate.

  1. Warwick 54.3% Devourer
  2. Nidalee 54.02% Runeglaive
  3. Xin Zhao 53.82% Devourer
  4. Kayle 53.8% Devourer
  5. Elise 53.69% Runeglaive
  6. Nunu 53.22% Cinderhulk
  7. Amumu 52.59% Runeglaive / Cinderhulk (highest winrate with Runeglaive)
  8. Poppy 52.55% Devourer
  9. Diana 52.48% Runeglaive
  10. Udyr 51.96% Devourer
  11. Sion 51.56% Cinderhulk
  12. Wukong 51.44% Warrior

It has to do with the meta, too. The meta is shifting to make devourer-type junglers better. For example, the top two junglers with devourer can't even really use it to it's full potential. They are just there because they fit the meta.

There is a reason why the meta changed... They literally made an item for the meta to change. -.-

The meta was changing before the item was released.

It was going back to assassins and then they released this.

Average game only lasts ~33 minutes though. If you only have 3 minutes on average to influence a game, well, that's not that amazing.

Also: jungler's chief strength is that they can apply a ton of global pressure early and potentially snowball 3 lanes and 4 other champions ahead, winning a game in sub-30 minute time frames for their team by having the largest number of outlets to flex early-game power. Enemy jungler can exploit a devourer AFK farm jungler pretty heavily.

That is assuming you are very slow at clears. Average Sated is by 18 minutes.

Does like, no one respect the fact that Devourer is a late game Item? You could require an extra 5 or 10 stacks, and it would still be complained about because it's still a late game item.

But that in mind, I honestly feel like it's late game potential shouldn't be touched. Cause you would be gimping the powerspike that AS junglers get, Which they don't get in the early game cause AS is a terrible Early stat.

Devourer is suppose to out class other items in the late game cause it's a late game item. And if that in general shoves other Junglers out of the meta, then delay sated, but don't nerf it.

I respect your opinion, but the same goes for Feral Flare and (old) Cinderhulk.

Don't recall too much about Feral Flare. But I do feel like Sated fixes more problems than it creates. Feral Flare and old devourer Never freaking turned on, So the Devouring Junglers had to AFK farm to keep up. Except when the item was OP to begin with.

As for CinderHulk. It's late game power hasn't even been touched. They nerfed the flame passive and the base HP but it still gives 25% bonus HP. Rather it just compensated for it's late game power by nerfing it's early game. Which is what is most likely going to happen to Devourer, rather than Nerfing Sated.

I call BS. No good Jungler should abandon their laners just to get sated. Rather, Ganking helps you get stacks to become Sated. And that pressure also helps you secure Neutral objectives, which again help you get sated. This is part of the reason Why I feel like it would be safe even to Delay sated. This is also why I don't hop on the Yi/shyv/kayle bandwagon. Even though they scale well with Being Sated, I don't feel like they are the best Junglers. My sated Jungler choice is Jax. Though he doesn't have as much scaling with Sated, he does offer enough CC and damage mitigation with his Counterstrike to gank.
