To many dodges in Dynamic Queue.

Holy crap. It seems like every time I queue up I have to go through ATLEAST 4 -5 dodges. There needs to either be greater consiquences for dodging or they need to put team builder back. As I'm speaking someone just dodged again. Pls Upvote if you agree.

I can't tell if people are dodging, or just not understanding the system. The new LOCK OR DIE mechanic is terrible and clearly causes a lot more problems than it solves. I mean, there are now seventeen (1 entry + 6 bans + 10 champ selects yes it's really SEVENTEEN) separate AFK checks between choosing to queue for a match and getting into a game.

And, lo and behold, it now takes three to eight lobbies to find two teams who can pass those seventeen checks and their timers. Pretty shocking! It's almost like seventeen is a ludicrous number of double checks to install in the queuing system of an online game...

wow... what do you mean 17 afk checks???? how many lock ins do you have to press?

Lowvyr12 votes

1 entry, you have to accept the queue 6 bans, if someone doesn't lock in a ban then the queue dodges 10 champs, if someone doesn't lock their champ then the queue dodges

1+6+10 = 17 You only have 2-3 that you personally have to do, but as a total, there are 17 different buttons that have to be pressed. Unless you include every person accepting, then it turns into 26.

ye... Why do you have to check so many times? You actualy have to lock in your ban now? that's pointless... pick intent also has a lock in?

Its not necessarily pointless. First off, pick intent has always had a lock in, though you could just click on the champ and wait for the timer to run out and you will still get champ anyway (which i REALLY hate when people do that because it wastes so much time). Second, with the ban lock in, i think it is better because it will show the ban on the screen showing what you want banned and it gives more time for the other people on your team to voice their opinion on what should be banned rather than to rely solely on the chat feature. Because with the old system you had to communicate all through the chat and it was convoluted. Now it shows up on screen and gives a clearer picture of your intent rather than to click and have the champ auto banned.

I think it is good in terms of bypassing a lot of "accidental" or "misclicks"

wokedaddy2 votes

Good points, I wanted to add two. A big plus is that now the system prevents a game starting with no bans and it prevents 1 player getting to pick 3 troll bans. I see a lot of negativity directed at the new Q. Some of it seems legitimate, but people should atleast be able to point out some positives. To be honest I definitely wouldn't want Riot to just revert back to the old matchmaking.

3TWarrior1 votes

I agree, but at the same time...it's a lot of pressure and the appearance is a nuisance because it directs you before you can actually do as you want to do

for instance, pick times are much shorter now than previously

You know, not everyone has voice comms right???

56552559_DEL1 votes

You didnt even read what i said apparently. Nowhere in that comment did i even mention voice comms.

My point was simply saying that instead of relying purely on the chat (which is the TYPING chat at the bottom of the champ pool) we are now allowed to SEE the champ to be banned without it being automatically banned since you have to lock it in, instead of having a convoluted chat with who to ban and the possibility of either an accidental ban or a misclick. This way, if you click on the champ, its not auto banned and you can look at the chat and see who says "yay" or "nay"

Next time understand what you are reading.

Cartman Bra1 votes

I really like your point actually. But why not make it possible to hover bans and just lock them in if the timer runs out? Simple solution. Rather then beeing returned to looby because you didn't click that button in time.

Also I think 40s is to long for a ban. When it was only one person banning they could think about it in the first few moments and then come up with a list and ban pretty fast. Now it's getting to a point where 6 people get Alt-Tabbed in confronted with "I have to ban". Then they are checking what has been banned already. Then they have to think about what they want to ban. Then ban it. (And that at least 4 times.)

And I understand them I don't want to watch this - really cool looking (!) - champion selection screen for more than 5 minutes.

UPVOTE THIS! ..... I just don't know how this feedback works..... if rito really watch this or not, but i really want them to CHANGE the new system it's all great and everything i like it but this LOCK IN things are just the only, but really big flaw. (In my case) I use to dig in my champs, think I really want this vs the other.... or if my decision is really necessary to my team, stuff like that, so what I do is to pick a certain champ and then think that and if at the last second I make my decision I change the champ or just lock in.... but now I can't do that.

The timer has NOT been that much to do that......waiting 40-30 seconds for someone to pick is not making me suffer or something, I just want rito to change this like it was before, plus i got leaver buster penalties (I have missed the lock in 2 times and it might be more in the future)

Little suggestion: Put an option to watch all your champs while others ban/pick.

But just think, every time your lobby fails one of those afk checks is a game that could have an afk in it. Obviously afks still happen (have lost 3 games from afk vs. 0 won), but it's really not hard to click "lock in". Like, at all. I'm not sure why people are having such difficulty with it.

It's just people getting used to the system. The same thing happened on PBE the first couple days, and then people got used to it and it went much faster.

Got back on for the first time in a long time and didn't realize that I had to lock in my champ and queue dodged, twice! Logged off right after that.

you cant use a system for use years.. randomly pop in a new one and expect everyone to instantly get use to the new system... to expect everyone to instantly be use to it is just ignorance on your part.

Considering it has been out for a few days now, most everyone is warmed up to it. many of my friends I play with say they also have the same problem, so its obviously more then people who don't know how to press 'Lock In'

I think you overestimate how much the average player plays League. Here on the forums, most of us play close to every day (or are at least informed about changes within a few days) but many people only log in once every couple days, so they're still seeing this for the first time (and it takes more than one game to get it for some people).

Phoenix Kotori 6 votes

That's why it has the in pick/ban pop up warning, if you choose to ignore it that's kinda of your fault.

3ofGot40ve2 votes

Considering a majority of league players play multiple games a day, I shouldn't be having to wait 20 minutes to get in a complete dynamic queue each time I search > : - ( So yah there shouldn't be a reason to forget twice, specially with the warning timer and what not

Phoenix Kotori 5 votes

Except it tells you an explicitly with a warning as soon bans start...

if you can't read the warning & understand it the player is at fault not the system, imo.

56552559_DEL4 votes

Actually, a lot of this is not intentional. There is a problem with the system that i saw with IMAQTPIE who is online right now streaming and both him and Pobeltor are duoing. Qtpie was literally in champ select and when it hit 7 seconds to lock in his champ (of whom he already selected) the client kicked him from champ select. And that wasnt the first time it happened to him either. Even Pobeltor said it happened to him a few times already.

So its safe to say that a lot of the dodging is NOT intentional at all.

Just went through 25 mins of dodging/fail to lock in in soloque ranked dynamic

What I don't like: Lock in forced mechanic- I have dodged accidentally twice myself Not all champs visible and you have to scroll to find them- I feel that it is just more inefficient in general. Also why does the declare phase have to be thirty seconds and you cannot even lock in to speed it up?

Riot really dropped the ball on this one, this is the classic case of software bloat. Nothing needed to be changed but instead the software people are trying to justify their salaries and make this fancy thing that is poorly thought out and destroys the integrity of the game when they could have just left it as it was for multiple seasons working fine. But no we have to have 4 man + 3 man parties in ranked and enforce the meta in the dynamic system.

Reminds me of JAGEX and Runescape.

Deepicex3 votes

i am so used to the old system, where i would pick a champ, then let the timer run down while i see if there are better picks to fit my situation like team comp or is it a good counter pick and feel safe it would just lock it in so i completely forget to lock in. so many accidental dodges when i'm not that type of player, i take on any challenge and almost never dodged before. i want my LP back tear.

jade harley BARK3 votes

I've also noticed this and it's really annoying. I really don't understand how it's "people getting used to the new game mode" because right after pick intent there's a pop up that tells you that you HAVE to lock in.

WookieJesuz2 votes

They aren't dodging, its the dumb new lock in system

Fodder 692 votes

There are issues with it. I just got booted from a queue, i picked Darius with about 5 seconds to go, and never got the ban button highlighted to hit. Got an error about server not responding to ban request or something, but still lost lp and got a time penalty.

This is after 3 queue dodges for other people, 10-12 'did not respond to afk check' and 25 minutes into trying to get a game to play.

Just 3 games ago, I was in menu, I had just lost 2 of my promo games to s5( I just got promoted) and was about to start my third, I wait for about 1:30 and I find a match, Im last pick and everybody but enemy last pick locks in, I lock in amumu and the enemy last pick hovers volibear , after 20 seconds he doesn't lock in and a dodge occurs, I went through this 7 times until I finally found a game where nobody dodged, a total of a 25 minute wait, just remove this lock in or dodge feature because at least 5/7(lol) of the dodged were where the guy hovered a champ but then didn't lock in

knownslacker2 votes

I only dodge when someone on my team bans my champ that I said i would use. This means my teammates are horrible people and I will be super toxic all game anyway.

Can you please please please make this a thing of the past? If I lock in as Ahri please prevent my teammates from being able to ban Ahri. Mkay. Thanks.

hi im minty1 votes

lol this just happened to me in game. One of my teammates banned ahri even though I intended to pick her (and he knew because it shows) so I picked bard mid.

We still won game but we came real close to losing.

Mr Vulcanator1 votes

I wanted Cass and someone banned them while saying "she's pretty OP right now". Then (in the same lobby) someone who got support said that they were going to take top from me. They didn't actually do it when they realized they'd have to dual lane with me.

jhawk932 votes

Yeah the new Q really sucks. It takes 10 tries to get 1 game launched. They need to optimize the wait time. Now everyone knows what their roles are there is no reason to pick in sequence, They should be allowing 2-3 picks at the same time if they still want to allow counter picks or just let everyone pick at once like in 3s. Making everyone wait for 2 people to pick one by one on the same team only made sense when you were not sure what your role was.

Dr0pinB0mbs2 votes

36 mins waiting for game 7 dodges....... I think there is a problem.

3TWarrior1 votes

first there's the issue of people not getting the role they want....then even worse, if anyone goes afk for a max of 2 minutes, the game is disbanded and minimum of 30 seconds

you could literally have had to walk in the other room for something and miss the match XD

Vayne OP2 votes

Im not sure where to comment about this so ill say it here, it is ridiculous, that despite choosing the champ i want to ban (and locking the choice in or risking 30 min queue ban) and then selecting and locking my champ that I ALSO have to watch my screen while other pick, or else i fail to pass an "afk check" that kicks me out of my queue?? Someone please explain to me why this is necessary.

On a side note, when trading, I CANT SEE CHAMPS AVAILABLE, I WANT TO SEE THE CHAMPS IN THE GAME SO I MAY CHOSE WHO MY DUO MIGHT PICK FOR ME

Unlucky Number71 votes

and there wasn't a problem with dodging in team builder? i seem to recall all those people team dodging.

3TWarrior1 votes

in addition to the other comment, the group leader could also kick whomever they desired, meaning trolls were not an issue

off meta things were more difficult, but it was better

seriously, all they had to do was place people into positions, then do a ban phase, then let people pick their champ for their location

Calabok1 votes

its a good AFK check IMO

GAYMARRlAGE1 votes

I just saw a guy say "I'm dodging; I'm sleepy, but I'm gonna let timer run before dodging" then dodge, accept another game and do the same thing 3 times. Do you not get low priority queue in dynamic???

ThemiGod1 votes

If you're not constantly going afk during champion select it wont even be an issue. What exactly is so difficult about selecting a champion, and then clicking a button to lock it in? Unless you're a shortbus resident with an extreme case of A.D.D. then there is nothing wrong with dynamic queue.

Cartman Bra1 votes

A lot of people are having an issue with the Client not popping up anymore. That's an old problem but it's magnified by the new queue. In the old queue there was only one afk check for every person (assuming the banning first pick didn't alt-tab after he finished banning). But if you are last pick now and you ban, you will most likely not stay 5 minutes in the client and watch everybody run down their timer. (Literally 5 minutes from last ban to last pick - if everyone takes 30/40 seconds!)

I feel like I'm going insane - https://gyazo.com/f4ed5667b6b1405f099dcf22d01f6891 25 Failed attempts to pick or ban 6 Failed to accept queue 13 Dodged This says a lot about this broken system.... P.S. (I'm silver so the queue time makes no sense considering I'm not challenger or something)

GG1yph1 votes

The problem is inherently derived from the old system. When it was your turn to do ANYTHING, the LoL client would pop up to the front with an audio tone and inform you that you now NEED to do something. This new system basically pops up to tell you to accept the queue...and then nothing. There is an audio queue but you can miss it because if you have music playing or you are on the phone or something you won't hear it. In my personal experience, I need the client to remind me when I have to make an action. If I'm 5th pick/ 3rd Ban, I can guarantee that I'm definitely not sitting there watching the laborious selection process. I'm looking at other shit or getting a drink, etc. All of a sudden, you have a 15 minute lock out because you "did not lock in your pick or ban." I would have...but LoL was in the background because I don't give a shit about what others are doing until its my turn, where I can then use my 30 seconds to figure out team comp/champ select or ban/runes/masteries/summoners. All it takes to understand why the number of unintentional queue dodges has jumped SIGNIFICANTLY is to measure what has changed between the versions of queuing. It's not a complex algorithm. I sincerely hope Riot is collecting data on this, because I've been a victim of AFK lock outs while sitting at my computer just because there is not enough reminder. It's insane.

Edit: And yes. I wrote this while waiting out yet another 15 minute lock out.

Dylhole1 votes

im confused because i lock in my champion go to grab a drink and it says i got taken out of the que because i didnt do the afk check is there a afk check after your lock in your champion?

as someone else posted, if you don't like in a ban (3/5 chance), the queue is reset
