Why the fuck is it that everytime that a new champ comes out we just have to DEAL with the shitstorm

Jesus christ. This is actually ridiculous. Can we get an answer on why new champions aren't banned in ranked for like, I don't know, at least a week?

This is how EVERY FUCKING GAME someone wants to play pyke goes.

Teammate:hovers pyke

Me: I'm gonna be honest with you dude, I do not feel comfortable with you playing pyke

Teammate: Dude, I'm really good with pyke. I basically mained him on the PBE.

Me: I'm really sorry. Maybe I'd let you if we were first pick, but we're not. He's a pretty hard champion anyways and I sincerely doubt you've mastered him. bans pyke

Cue complete fucking tantrum. Pure flame in champ select, threats of griefing, raging in game, blaming me for banning pyke in game, just completely awful experience

This happens EVERYTIME a new champion comes out. Does Riot just not care? I know for a fact that they play this game, so they've experienced similar issues, yet they say nothing?

why dont u just let ur team-mate play pyke if they hovered over them. I mean u know ur tilting ur team-mate from the jump and thats basically an auto-loss atleast if u let the other team ban or pick pyke or ur team-mate gets him u still have a shot at winning.

He's a champion with a very steep learning curve and he came out only a few days ago. I do not feel comfortable letting someone play a champion like that in those circumstances.

This is a VERY common sentiment among the community, and it's complained about quite often.

Im not dis-agreeing with you in regards to new champions in ranked games, but if this happens to u every game, it must be happening equally to the other team as well. so if you let this play out regularly u chances of winning should remain the same, while if u ban a champion ur team-mate is telling u he will pick and as a result u tilt the F out of them, then ur gonna lose the game regardless. why not walk the path of least resistance, is all im saying

Playing a new champion who's not at least 5-6 days on live servers is basically asking to lose the game. Even if you played Pyke on PBE that doesn't mean shit, for couple of reasons (100+ avg. ping in matches, low elo players who don't even try etc.)

Tilting your teammate by banning his pick is also basically asking to lose the game. I've played several games with pyke players and have not lost/won one yet due to their inability to play pyke. He's not really that difficult to play imo, and I did a LOT of games with him on PBE thanks to 9 friends willing to spam 5v5 customs. Itemization will differ a lot and this may cause issues, but people will learn what items are best (tip: Steraks = bad, but gargoyles = GREAT!).

So yeah my advice is roll with the punch, better to have him happy and playing a champion he's not maining then have him tilted and likely to troll to lose you the game.

Playing chill 5v5 customs with friends (and on PBE) is a lot different than ranked where people will tryhard. It doesn't matter how difficult is he, most people probably played less than 10 games, which isn't enough to learn everything about him (from runes to matchups)

Yea, it doesn't matter that I will lose the game, as long as some1's feelings aren't hurt then it's all gucci. After all, this is League of Children am I right? ^^

Ok a couple of things that might add some clarity here xD

lol, my friends are far from chill when it comes to customs (everyone likes an opportunity to strut their stuff against their mates lets face it xD) and range from bronze to diamond. They all play a few champions in several positions so the match up's were never the same. I played 42 games total including several being just with randoms in a normal (you can't always get 10 people online at the same time) and while I am not a MASTER of Pyke, I'm as good as anyone who doesn't play support is likely to be when first picking him up. I won 31 of those games btw xD

It's not about hurting someone's feelings, it's about not being the child yourself by going "I don't want it but I don't want you to have it either!" And yes, as a 30 year old professional I do sometimes feel like the only adult in the room, but thankfully I have 2 toddlers who remind me it could be worse xD

Well, nobody likes being told what to play or not play for one. Then when you add in banning a champ that someone wants to play (no matter what it is) is going to usually result in that experience. If someone really wants to play something, 90% of the time then they are going to play it no matter who or what has a differing opinion.

It happens for new champions because everyone wants to play it and most don't care where or how or have any regard for any other circumstances.

If it's that much of a problem to you, then why not avoid ranked for a week then until it settles down?

Don't tell them it's because you aren't comfortable with them playing him. Tell them it's because the other team will pick him first.

Alternatively, don't volunteer the reason unless asked.

If you are asked, you can just say that you just ban new champions for a week (or two) after their release. It has nothing to do with them, you just don't want to see the champion until people have had time to learn/adapt.

How do people learn/adapt if you always ban the champion? By playing them in Blind Pick or watching content creators (i.e. Youtubers, streamers) who have been experimenting with them.

IDK that any new champ has ever been this bad though. I've been skeptical about people playing new champs in ranked games before, but pyke feels like literally every lane has to win and you end the game early af, or you auto lose. His kit is just total ass for team fights.

Like he's a utility assassin... with a supports income, WHO AT RIOT DID THAT MAKE SENSE TO ON PAPER?

Well you typed and expect he’s not going to type back in a fla,e lol, the silent are the most effective.

You should work with your teammates instead of against them. Maybe you'll be surprised.

I was trying to work with him, I offered to trade him any champion he needed and I even offered to let him mid so he could play a champion more like Pyke's playstyle. I really wasn't trying to be mean, it's just a little too soon to bring him into ranked I think.
