Cinder hulk, Rune Glaive, and then two steps back...(whole lotta salt inc)

I have nothing against Sated Devourer, in fact I think it's a cool item and very interesting. I do feel after recent games that it was a major step back from good jungling. In the Cinder hulk meta tanks made the game interesting and dynamic, no longer forced to be an occasional pick top or support and having a strong impact on the game, Cinder hulk brought more tanks back from the rarely seen to always seen. Rune glaive in its short stay saw Nidalee, Ekko, Fizz, and Diana back in the jungle and again, the jungle was more dynamic for it.

Then Sated Devourer came in. Many junglers I've seen have fallen into the same farming trap, "I could help my team and get some kills... or I can get these stacks." It is the most frustrating thing in the world to set up everything as a support, clear wards, have the enemy team push in, everything clear for a gank, and he goes to golems, then raptors. Because the stacks are more important. I've straight been told by junglers that they aren't going to help anyone till they have their 30 stacks. I've seen junglers GIVE UP DRAGON CONTROL, because they need that stack from grump or golems, when it was clearly warded and showing the enemy team move in for dragon.

Basically, I'm frustrated and needed to vent, I'm a fan of the new jungle item, I'm not a fan of how it's a major trap for junglers to pretty much ignore their team and then bitch when everything has gone to hell, and they don't know why.

It's weird, Cause they some what want to support the play style. (for junglers who would need gold and items Anyway) but making it so that they are not a perma AFK farmer. The new Sated Devourer actually Turns on, and allows the Jungler to make plays.

Yet the complaint you just mentioned. Devourer Stacks faster with Scutler takedowns, and Epic monster Takedowns. Which increase Incentive to make Objective control plays. Even while your still stacking.

It's not so much that Sated Devourer creates poor Jungling strategies. Rather it's a complete paradigm shift in the team comp. Running sated Devourer, means your team comp needs to help get the Jungler fed. (rather than the other way around) Your top lane would have to be the teams tank. A good heavy lock down support can easily get the jungler a few kills bot lane.

The fact that you more or less build the comp around Sated means that it's less likely to show up in major team games. (like the LCS)

Though your frustration is Justified. Sated Devourer Junglers are Carrys. And I find a lot of Carry mains, to have a shrewd Attitude about needing to "Be fed," "AFK farm if not fed," "Demand that everyone peel for them," And just Over all not being a team player. That's not really a problem with the item, but with the player.

Personally I find it a relief that Devourer becomes sated. When I play Devourer Junglers, I know the item will turn on, eventually, So I don't have to worry about obtaining 30 stacks. (Cause I'm not obtaining unlimited Stats) It's usually better to Stop the enemy from snowballing. (Cause if the enemy fails to snowball off Devourer Stacking period, You've basically won at that point)

Edit: I just remembered that many Sated Devourer Junglers Will Also Build BotRK, often as a second Item. That's actually another Luxury. Because while I'm stacking up Devourer, I can gank the enemy as often as I need to. After a gank, (success or fail) I can clear one or two camps, and have enough health afterward to perform another gank. Ultimately having as much map pressure as any other Jungler. This does run into the problem of being Glass cannon. But that increases my emphasis on team work, to cover that weakness.
