Morde rework from a Morde Main

it's finally here the rework that gives Morde a way to catch his opponents. I finally got a few games with him so I have a good feeling for him I figured I'd give you all a perspective from my eyes, someone who has mained Morde since preseason 1. I'm going to be breaking down what I think of him one ability at a time and then give a bit at the end. Note that I mainly play Morde mid.

Passive: His old W is now his passive. This has been one of the hardest changes for me as this is a really strong passive but you lose the raw trading power you had from your old passive. It's a strong passive don't get me wrong, and it can be up an entire team fight which is insane but this change is the thing that cements him from a push champion into a dueling champion. To those that think this passive is too strong remember that his old passive made him insanely hard to kill in lane with poking as he would just use his AoE circle ability on minions, get a huge shield and be hard to poke out of lane. Over all I miss his old passive, I think it was a better one, the new W has some nice features to it but having a passive shield that generated when you did damage to anything was very nice and marked Morde as my go to against assassin characters because it made him a hard counter to them

Q: It's his original Q but it hits more stuff. Looks good, feels good 'nuff said.

W: Losing the circle AoE was jarring at first, this was his max first ability and now it's his passive. In some degrees it's better because if you've built up your shield you can use it to block a large attack, or use it after a fight to have enough power to start another one. The fact that he can pop it again for healing is nice. Frankly I feel like his W is now underwhelming while his passive is overwhelming. It's super long cool down also meaning that Morde's a little more vulnerable to poke in lane and the assassins he use to destroy.

E: Ah yeah baby now we're cooking with gas! This is a fantastic move and really what Morde needed. In laning phase in the mid lane this ability changes a lot of his match ups from bad to good. Zoe for an example would destroy you for trying to get at her caster minions, now I just pull them into my minions and I can safely farm them. It was the ability that Morde needed really bad and now that he has it I think that it over everything else in his kit is what makes him feel better to play.

R: I honestly don't mind losing the ghost, I miss the god tier powered dot but that ult was a buggy piece of shit with a mind of its own. Dragon was worse, it had an attention span of like 1 second before it would default to some other action. Not only that but getting a ghost to hit an inhib could only be done if all enemy champions or minions weren't any where near the ghost. His new ult is very strong for just about everything, removing people from a fight, catching fleeing people, securing objectives. I only wish that if you killed someone in the shadow realm your cool downs reset when you came back out just so I can reenter the fight easier.

I don't mind the Morde rework I think it traded a lot of his early game durability for being able to trade with a lot more force in the laning phase without items. The hardest thing for me to do now is remember that my shield is a cool down, not passive. He looks good, he feels good, over all I'm pretty happy with the rework. Though if someone at Riot reads this could we get the King of Clubs skin's mace to look more like it's original design, it looked a lot better than the new design and to me I think the new design of that mace makes the King of Clubs skin his weakest skin.

Yo mordes new ult is so good so we had a fed enemy morde and a on our side we had a lvl16+ kayle, also fed. every time morde ulted her, it was like a wwe fight. the outcome was 50/50 and wed cheer for the winner as one team. so good.

I love this rework, I think it hits 2 key points of making Morde more like his old self with incredible late game damage, while at the same time hitting more on the mark than the Juggernaut update did on making him an actual juggernaut. The visuals are audio are incredible.

I do agree his passive is really strong while his W is kinda weak, kinda wish they've swap their power a bit. But mostly I just hope his balancing lands and he doesn't maintian this absurd ban rate. The hotfix hit him pretty hard.

The thing I miss the most is the 3-hit Q. It might have been an unhealthy mechanic, but it makes me sad that I can no longer flash and bonk down any enemy champs. Maybe if the isolation damage on the new Q was stronger, and the AOE damage on it was weaker, it would feel better.

As Mordekaiser is now, with the old W being gone and the 3 hit Q as well, he feels very different compared to his past self. I think I need a few more games on him to really form an opinion on the rework, but oh man it seems they really changed his playstyle radically.
